Growing up in the Florida panhandle, hurricanes were just part of the scenery, you just dealt with them.
Anywhere you live comes with a price of admission. The left coast has earthquakes and fires, midwest and central states deal with tornadoes, northern states have blizzards, and coastlines have hurricanes... price of admission!!! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Hope you and yours stay safe. Uncanny in that it's coming at the same time of year Katrina showed up in 2005.

Earth has bad weather!
Let's move then ![]() Seriously ... hope this doesn't do what it has the potential too. FWIW.... hope it doesn't follow the path Fred did a week or so ago.... Eastern TN, and some western NC areas were absolutely wiped out by flooding ... devastating, and they don't need another hit. A few years ago... much of NC east of Raleigh became one big azz lake. Water is the real killer though the wind speeds get the headlines. Please stay safe guys! Last edited by KFC911; 08-28-2021 at 04:35 AM.. |

The forecasted surge. Fingers crossed up here for the Gulf.

To our friends in Louisiana, hang in there and be safe. I'll be watching the weather reports and hoping the very best for everyone.

Between a high storm surge, pounding waves, a strong wind, a wind direction change as it moves through, and a foot or more of rain/flooding....move inland if you can for this one, stay safe !

Run from the water, hide from the wind

You might have tried to answer his question instead of going straight into jackass mode.

That's a really good question, Norm, and one I probably don't have a good answer for. For me...I'm pretty risk adverse to having my property destroyed, so I'd never live somewhere with much higher than 0 risk. Obviously, others don't think like I do.

Just came in from Baton Rouge checking on kids, their homes and supplies. I10 West from NO through Baton Rouge is a parking lot. Listening to WWL out of New Orleans, National weather service guru said actual storm surge will be 15 with wave action from 30 to 35 feet. Someone asked him about their location and he said" Leave, because when you get back it will look nothing like you left and your subdivision will never be the same". As of 1 PM its now a Cat 2.

According to a quote I heard on CNN while at the gym... this storm has the potential to affect 14 million people along the gulf coast...And unfortunately it appears that the delta is in the bulls eye Lets ask all those people why they live there.. Or closer to me just last week.. Henri was predicted to make landfall between Sayville, and Southampton, NY.. about 20 miles from my place.. For whatever reason the storm made landfall between Montauk, NY, and Block Island, RI.. over 100 miles from my place Even though the storm was over 100 miles from me... I still got around 8 inches of rain over two days... Once Henri made landfall... it kind of petered out and was just a rain event.. Yet it affected millions of people over a large geographic area.. Why do they continue to live there? Hurricanes are huge, and unpredictable... to ask why people live in the path is stupid.. because you rarely know where the path is, or where the storm will really go and the storm affects people hundreds of miles away.. We know exactly where the San Andreas fault is.. why do people continue to live there? Some places are pre-disastered (World According to Garp)

Recent satellite view of the storm.. Looks like it will have an effect from Tallahassee to Houston.. possibly Corpus Christi..
Looks like Savanah, GA might get some weather from this storm...

Stay safe. If you are in this storm's path and haven't left, then it is time to hunker down and hope for the best!!!
