The Sony has a true 120 refresh rate. I truly don’t know what that means but the Costco guy said that’s good for sports. |

I've had by far the least problems with Sony's. 75" is too big for my house but I did buy a 75" Sony for work and it's been running fine for a couple years.

My whole house is Samsung, 3-6 yrs old (except for the backup in the guest room, that is the leftover from college and is 14 years old). Knock on wood, zero issues so far.
At 75", you can spend $600-$5,000+. Your max of $1500 is probably a good price point, not overpaying for the latest and greatest, but insuring a higher end box. I typically go with 8series/ 8000 series. My newest TVs are Crystal UHD, though now you can probably be into a 7 or 8 series QLED for $1500. Remember, you can pretty much never go too big. Obligatory pic of my basement setup - 75" main screen, 50" top screen, and bonus 46" brought out from my office for big gamedays:

When I was at Walmart yesterday, I did a walk thru of the tv dept.
They had 5 diff brands of 75 inch smart tv's. Samsung, Lg, Vizio, TCL, and Onn The only prices I remember were LG..$850, Vizio..$800. Onn..$650 The TCL was around the Onn price...and I ignored the Samsung..I owned one and had problems with it. A few mentioned certain tv's because they have the streaming apps. Don't almost all big screens come that way now? I'm not sure if you could get one without.

Keeps all your content synced and you don't have to answer a billion questions from the wife on how to get to what on a different TV. Also you maintain feature parity that way. The built in apps are not always as up to date as what you find on Apple TV / ROKU etc...

A couple years ago, different apps were supported by different TVs.

^^^ My 4 year old Vizio came out of the box with 3 streaming apps. Now it has at least 30 different ones that the tv added when it updates. Most of them are worthless..I use just YouTube, Netflix, and Prime.

The other reason I don't like Smart TV's, no consistency to the individual app update schedule so depending on how the manufacturer deals with it, showing nags for updates or leaving you alone it can be a pain in the ass to turn the TV on and get an update prompt every couple of days from different apps.

I have never seen that on this tv for any streaming app.
It must do it in the background or maybe at 3am?

Bit of a conundrum because I hate auto updates, if I can turn it off I do.

The worst auto-updates...for me, are the printer updates.
I swear they send them every week just to prove that it's important.

Check out the LG OLED at Costco. I think the 72" is the largest one in the store, but you can get an 84" by special order. The picture quality and the smart remote are the reasons to buy this one.

I went with the Samsung 75" from Costco online. 7000 or 8000 series, cant remember which one.
Amazing picture and refresh rate. The ones in the store are not the the higher quality ones, as with the price point, they don't sell well enough to take up floor space. We then bought a 55" for upstairs a couple of years later. I also bought a Samsung because I didn't want to have to retrain my wife on the functions/features. lol

If I remember right that one was out of my price range but you are totally right, the picture is much better on any oled especially the LG. |

If you check out the remote, it has a pointer that you aim with the remote. It's really awesome. And there is voice command too.

![]() And if the power goes off I have to key in all the wifi and port info to get it working again. ![]() ![]() ![]() Okay printer, but I won't buy another one when replacement time comes. ![]() Our TV's update seamlessly. Only our old cheap-ish POS LG had this issue... it also died just weeks after the Costco extended (5 year) warranty ended.
