Oh, I should have clarified - I am not insinuating that anyone is a fat ba$tard - that is from the Richard Jeni video (he was a hilarious stand up comic, IMHO).

But, I will also say that I think "dieting" is a racket. Keto/Atkins/don't skip breakfast/don't eat after 8:00/blah, blah, blah...I think it is all a racket. The only way to lose weight - the only way - is to burn more calories than you consume. There is no magic pill or magic diet.

Now, losing weight in a healthy manner is another story. People don't generally gain 20 lbs in a month or two and it is not a great idea to lose 20 lbs in a month or two. But it can be done.

And...other than "looking good naked"...what we actually weigh many times isn't directly correlated with how healthy we are. Plenty of perfectly healthy people out there with BMIs above 25.

4 weeks?

You're starting about a year too late for a healthy diet to get you to a healthy weight.
In 4 weeks massive amounts of laxatives and diuretics are your only hope - to lose a pound or two.

Start with a 1 week fast, as in NO eating, stay hydrated. You'll lose a good chunk there. Then, eat clean, be in a caloric deficit, walk daily. I've done this to kickstart my metabolism and start a healthier journey. Probably need to do it again. I'm sure you know, there are 3500 calories in 1 pound. If your basil caloric burn is 2500 calories per day, and you consume 2000, you'll lose 1 lb in a week.

But seriously. Gotta cut calories. That is all there is to it. I've lost 20 lbs or so (now 6' 3", 200 lbs) and I did it by...not eating. Simple.
It "sounds" simple, but some us have problems. I don't feel full until I'm over stuffed. It is a combination of eating too fast and the old mentality of "Eat Everything on your Plate" mixed with the USA oversize portions.

I'm getting help. Yep, doctor prescribed Wegovy. I'm only 2 weeks in the program but I've already lost weight. I feel full and I don't feel hungry between meals.

I am also recording all of my eating and drinking on my phone. No cheating. Really helps to know what you're eating. And you need to measure potions.

Postpone the beach vaca until next year!

(and cut carbs. Go for fiber vegs and lean meats portion not to exceed palm of your hand)

You don't need to feel full. - eat to live, rather than live to eat.

We humans exhale 1.5 - 2 lbs per day of what was fat (or food) depending on environment and activity. (you will burn more in cooler environments, for example)

For me, I eat what ever the hell I want, but portions... Keep your total intake lower than your breath out-gassing and the pounds come off.

Some count calories. -meh. Keep it simple stupid. Keep the weight going in down and you are set.

After seeing this thread, I thought I might try to drop some weight too.

So this morning- sitting at my second job, and I get TWO birthday cakes for an upcoming birthday here in the next several weeks. ( I only work one or two days a month there). They left out some spare pizza (not birthday related) and told me to eat it.

I ate a slice of cake to get things started, but held off on the pizza. When I left the room, they said to each other "Just heat it up, he will be back in and eat it." like I'm some nocturnal opossum of something.

I told them to set up a game cam. As I typed that- Someone just slapped a plate of pizza in my face.

I will remain strong!!!!

I will add that it is easiest to drop pounds when not stressed.

Stress triggers calorie consumption mode. Likely from years of evolution.

Vigorous exercise stresses the body. -Makes me crave mass calories. But moderate exercise (anything that brings the breathing up a bit) increases the burn w/o the huge calorie crave.

If your basic metabolic rate is burning 1900 calories a day you should try to keep your daily calorie intake less that that ever day.

4 weeks is not enough time to lose much weight safely.
I can lose 2 or 3 lbs of winter fat a week on Optavia.
You want to keep your lean protein intake up so you don't lose lean mass/muscle.
I take about 2 months to lose 20lbs on a lean and green no carbs semi keto diet that monitors my BMI so I'm sure to lose fat not lean mass.
Great results for a flat stomach and no love handles.
After 6 weeks clothes fit better and my belt is 2 notches tighter, and I dropped from 216 to 198.
Plan to lose another 8lbs and then back to healthy lean and green, low carb meals.
It cost around $300 a month for the Optavia food, easy to follow and helps develop good cravings that will help you keep the weight off after you have reached your goals and stopped the diet.
They should of taught us this stuff in high school,

Eat what you want; just run it off.

This theory works perfectly as a young man...at my age (46), I need to be smarter about what I eat now AND still work out daily.

I started a cutting routine roughly a month ago. I've lost ~10 pounds (fluctuating between 10-15). Full body workouts with light-medium weight 3 times a week (workouts last about 1-1.5 hours), focusing on keeping the heart rate elevated, so lots of reps, less rest between sets. Other 3 days of the week are HIIT cardio for about an hour (for me, it's running).

Eat LOTS of protein, and I'm keeping my caloric intake at around 1000-1200/day (I'm 6'0, 225 so my "maintenance calories" is around 2800.

Sundays, my rest day, I just play volleyball for a few hours.

Another thing to keep in mind is that muscle weighs more than fat, so don’t let the scale make you feel bad.

If you’re exercising hard, you will feel fitter and slimmer, but the scale will say you haven’t lost anything, but you’ve lost fat and replaced it with muscle.

^^^^Absolutely. So many people fall victim to the numbers on the scale.

You can lose 10 lbs in 4 weeks, but it of course takes a plan and some discipline.

Go to water as the only liquid (no coffee, etc), and monitor 500 calories per day.

Sounds daunting, but totally doable.

What you eat is obviously critical. Every calorie counts. But a chicken breast is roughly 250 calories and salads with only a bit of oil and vinegar can be almost nothing. Of course no sugar and very few carbs (carbs tend to be high calories).

With so little intake, you pretty much have to intermittent fast. So, like a small meal around 1 pm and light dinner around 5.

Weigh yourself on a digital scale at the same time each morning when you get up (it’s motivational to see the weight coming off).

I’ve done it!

The first 3-4 days are the hardest. After that your appetite goes away and you’re on cruise control.

I wouldn't recommend my approach, but I've lost 15+ lbs in the last 2 weeks!

I came down with diverticulitis. Not bad enough to wind up in the hospital, but sent home from the ER with oral antibiotics. Between the clear liquid diet and the meh feeling/anorexia with the antibiotics, I've gone from 175 to under 158 today. Mrs. Noah is little pissed.
