Can you remix a youtube video's sound?
This has been driving me nuts for years.
Arthur Brown did a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkin's "I Put A Spell on You" which in IMHO was way better that Screamin' Jay's version (blues purists may disagree). The best part was not Brown's vocals, but the organist's work. As the song progresses, the organ does more to bring out the emotion in the song than Brown's voice. Whenever I listen to it, I strain to follow the organ over Brown's bellowing. At no point is the sound of the organ as loud as it should be. Is there an on-line tool to let me record a version where the organ is more prominent?

Absolutely, Patrick.
I have Windows for my operating system and have used various programs over the years to do mine. One example I have done are the compilation football highlight videos that feature some kind of hip-hop/rap soundtrack, which isn't my cup of tea. So I download the video and add in my own music. I keep a library of MP3 music files and when sorted by length you usually have several choices of songs to match up with the video's length. In this case it was Evelyn 'Champagne' King's 12" disco version of "Shame" ![]()

Not the same thing, Baz. WD is asking if he can remix the recorded music. He can, but it's gonna take some time and software to isolate and remove a particular part of the already mixed recording. Then he can augment the isolated track and add it back in. The music, as originally recorded, shouldn't suffer much after the missing audio is placed back in, just a little different and hopefully what is he looking for. Playing the recording after some digital signals have been stripped out would sound strange.
It's like lacing out a tree and then adding back all the branches with longer ones. Still the same tree, but the look will be different. AFA an online tool for this, that I don't know. I do know lots of software is out there for the purpose. |

Listening to the song I can hear the right and left hand organ parts. It would be interesting to hear this on headphones to determine how and where the organ track(s) are mixed in. I'm not going to take the time, the song doesn't resonate with me much.
But a thought occurred and that is many songs are available as an instrumental. I think the karaoke market is pretty big although that's not my bag either. Patrick, I get the feeling you'd be happy with no vocals. I'll let you look into that. |

There is at least one AI tool that seems to be able to separate audio into separate tracks. Beato uses it in this video. It's slick. I don't know if he mentions the name of the tool in this video, but it may help you search for the tool.
