I agree with him

(but him saying it sounds like an excuse or a sore loser) He should have let others say it. Eddie Olczyk said it at the end of the game.

Canada took many shots on goal that the US goalie successfully defended. He was definitely the MVP. Canada should have won this one, but such is the way of sports - an inch here or a millimeter there can make all the difference.

Edited .... My bad .... I shouldn't have ...

Fantastic Olympics ... I finally watched 2 minutes of curling too !

I'm not a winter Olympics watcher ... missed the 80 epic hockey game ... a non-event on my southern campus ...

I saw this one

That's the first complete game for me too ... think I'm done tho'...

It can't get any better than that

No one is guaranteed a win just they're the historical favorite. Canada played a better game? Well, it wasn't good enough. As always goal tending makes the difference and will win a game but if you don't score enough you lose.

Also let us remember that this was largely an NHL match. I too am tired of the 1980 comparison. That team was college kids playing against the Soviet ARMY. No comparison.

Both teams played the same amount of minutes . Both teams played 3 on 3 . One team won the gold . Shots on goal don't mean crap unless they go in . Suck it up Canada you lost . The contest was fair .

Huh?

Yup, we lost. Who cares? It doesn’t change anything.

Even if we would have won, we would still have the most incompetent and corrupt government of any of the developed countries in the world.

We did win gold in some other stuff tho. Like I said, it doesn’t change anything that matters.

I get that. I'm a b-ball fan ... or was ... a total nut.

NBA players do not belong in the Olympics... and never should have been... period.

Watching the game ... it looked like Canada was the better team ... but the US had a great game by the goal keeper.

And that's why I watched ... it was awesome ... and I did not care who won .

I just can't relate to winter sports ... but Nanook is helping me learn...

You sayin your government is more corrupt than ours?
If corruption was an Olympic sport we'd win the gold in that too

"Hellebuyck-uva-game" - the man was 'lights-out' & arguably stole the gold medal for ya. You win some, you lose some - a tip of the hat to Team USA. Kudos for the post-game tribute honouring Johnny Gaudreau - he was fun to watch. I imagine April 16th (playoffs start) seems a long way off before we see hockey of the calibre we've enjoyed these last 2 weeks.

Till then Gentlemen - take care & Cheers

Thanks, JB - classy as always. You put up a hell of a fight and the game could have gone either way.

Cheers my friend,
Baz

Well said sir. Binnington was no slouch. I was never any better than a DIII goalie (if D-IV existed I'd have played in that) but I can appreciate what I saw from both keepers.

Hellebuyck's deflection of a shot on the fat part of his stick looked like luck but it was all about getting in the way of the shot any way you can. Likewise Binnington moving laterally just fast enough to get enough of his trap on a rocket to keep it from finding the twine. It may have looked like he missed catching it but it didn't go in.

The 5 Canadians out front may have been better for most of the game but they just couldn't solve Helly.

I thought the comments by MacKinnon were completely classless. I get to see him play often being in CO, he should shut up and focus on the Av's Power Play. They need some love.

A team is all 6 guys on the ice.

As was mentioned, all if the Olympic hockey was fun to watch. Men and women.

Right on to that, all of the above. I was a student at the University of Minnesota in 1980, my cousin played JV hockey at the U. Any other school, he would have been a starter. Over half the Olympic team, plus the coach, (Herb Brooks), were from the U of M. It was like our college hockey team, (with a few ringers from Boston), beat the world. Truly a miracle on ice…you can’t imagine the emotions at my school. Take what everyone else in the country was feeling, (total elation), and double it.

No matter what else happens in life, no one can take away these joyful moments.
