Such a weird summer. There are many reports of this summer being very dry yet here in NWNJ we have had a very wet summer.

Holy Hannah! We had a biblical downpour last night. There was one lightning flash/thunderclap that was insanely intense. First was the flash, and I counted to three... the thunder shook my house and made me duck involuntarily. And it lasted, rolled for at least 6/8 seconds. Sacred feces!

Lots of 100+ degree days here. And once again, a thunderstorm just missed us and went east of us. We have not had rain in a month, and it is dry here. The storms come through, and seem to split apart as they approach us, and they go around us so no rain here.

The heat dome is really hangiing around over the four corners area. We've had days between the mid and high 90s and will for the coming week. We had a nice little summer downpour and the temp is currently 75, but it will climb quickly. Waiting for nicer temps.

After a relatively slow start to summer, the heat has been terrible here for about six weeks and absolutely brutal the past two and counting. Yesterday's official high in the DFW area was 109, which was a new record, and all this week is predicted to be more of the same.
The truly amazing thing is the nighttime temperatures - I'm talking 90+ at 3:00AM, which I experience first hand as I work partial nights in an unairconditioned aircraft hangar. It is mindblowing to be roasting ass and pouring sweat, even if standing still, at that late hour. Last edited by Rawknees'Turbo; Yesterday at 07:28 PM.. |

On the other end of the continent, we have had a amazing summer. Possibly the nicest I have ever experienced. No days over 100F. Three days of unseasonable humidity in June that were completely tolerable. No rain for months. A little wildfire smoke here on the Western side of the State but mostly it has been perfect. (Wildfire has been AWFUL in much of the State, but the wind kept the smoke away from me.)
And for those of you who are suffering? I am not trying to rub salt in your wounds. We, in Western Oregon, will get our punishment soon enough, I am sure. |
