Drove the old girl 750 miles in one day today, from Wilmington NC to home in FloRida. Not a hiccup.
South Carolina roads (I95) did their best to destroy the car. Never thought I would see speed bumps on an interstate that you can hit at 70-80 mph. I might need new front shocks now. I am still amazed I have no damage. ![]() Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Older photo, but the Osprey's are back here as well - showed up a week ago. We have two nests for them. This one is always in sight from my desk.
My favorite bird.

Been working in North Dakota off and on recently. This picture from 2/4/19 - the brightest sundogs I've ever seen.

Gives me a chill just looking at that^
Drove the 911 up to my buddy's acreage & helped him bust up, load and move some concrete to make way for a garage build. I have not been around a tractor for many many moons, brought back some good memories! 1982 JD 850-3 cylinder 1.3L diesel workhorse Breaking up is hard to do I found a Beaver skull on the way back to my car Apparently something had carried it to a new resting spot overnight, my buddy said hmmm, that was not here yesterday

Working on wiring turn signals, tail light, horn and headlight (everything in other words) on my son's 1971 T120 Triumph Bonneville frame with 1973 T140 motor... she suffered some hacking before we got to do our own.
There was no main fuse at all- Oh boy! Ahh the Brits, they had to hook up their batteries backwards to compensate for driving on the wrong side of the road.

^and we love the Brits for putting up with our nonsense!^
Filling up my beloved SVEA123 backpacking stove my big brother gave me 40 plus years ago, the 64 year old design works extremely well every time! I've gotten hundreds of uses from it. The fact I'm filling it back up can only mean one thing... adventure time draws near! Planning a Bike/Hike up in (where else) the North Cascades with my Son, his best buddy and maybe a BIL this weekend. Here it is delivering another batch of hot H2o for coffee and breakfast about a week ago. It makes the best "helicopter at full rip" sound whilst running ![]() https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svea_123

Hey Skip, That’s fantastic. I have that exact same stove and wouldn’t replace it for the world. Got it in the early 80’s when my dad, brother and I were doing the BP thing. Great memories hitting the Sierras, coast, Grand Canyon, etc. Truly a timeless and efficient design. I see that you have the upper sleeve for yours, I’m searching for one for ours. I have the “cook kit” that I use and store it in but the smaller sleeve would be great for quick trips. Worked it’s way around our Boy Scout trips and would get everyone’s attention with the distinct burner roar. Have a great trip, I’m envious!! Your trip makes more and adds to your great trip permit pics in your targa back on the 22nd. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank Bugstrider, nice selfie!
They are very simple and effective plus, they perform very well at higher elevations unlike propane or blended fuels stoves do. I have polished the brass on it a few times, looks like new for about a month and goes right back to tarnished patina. I believe Optimus still sells the the same basic design, replacement covers may still be out there too. I have a case of 1950's tech matching up with 2000's tech- quite to my surprise and joy a .8 liter Jetboil slides right down over the stove with one paper towel as a liner. I did have to break out my Dremel to allow the jetboil to seat on the SVEA correctly... this stove has always boiled water quickly and now with the Jetboil (no affiliation) its even better. I like it! I will try to find a sleeve and cup like yours. I already have the jetboil but wasn’t smart enough to put two and two together . When I got mine, it just came in a box without the other stuff so I picked up the cook kit. ![]() ![]() The good part is that I have yet to find a wind speed that has prevented the stove to run. That said, I haven’t encountered gail force winds on the tundra.....yet. It all packs down into itself so it is quit compact but not as tidy as your set-up. I was surprised to see that I can still get these stoves new and parts kits are available. Plenty on eBay too, just haven’t seen to many individual pieces listed.
