Onward to Taos
Southbound from Red Rocks skirting the west side of Denver and on through the Sangre de Cristo mountains to Taos, 7000 foot elevation!

Lots of good stuff on this thread. Dave - thanks for posting your road trip pics. Very, very cool.
![]() Worm's eye view of the Porsche/March Indycar 89P on display at PECATL. Sometimes you have to change your point of view. I slithered on the floor with my camera to get the right sight line and reflection shot. Perhaps a bit undignified, but effective. A security guard watched nearby, either curious or baffled or both. Must have been more curious because he asked to see the photo preview on my digital camera. Apparently he liked what he saw and commented how different it looked from human eye level. Yep - he nailed it.

Over to the park to see Los Lobos and The Mavericks. Once again the clouds rolled in a dropped some rain, but it didn't dampen the spirits of the crowd or the bands.
![]() By far the funkiest lemonade stand ever. FWIW, the wolf really did survive. And rocks on to this day!

90 minutes of late night southbound motoring and we were safely in to our little "motor-court" lodging circa 1920's:

My lovely Wife and I spent 2 nights in Port Townsend this week... an area we have been through a number of times on our way out to the ocean beaches. We decided it was time to do some in depth explorations near the earliest euro-American city in Washington established April of 1851.
68 miles of travel got us to the ferry dock at Coupeville, $18.25 got us on the boat for a 35 minute cruise to the Olympic Peninsula. First order of business Fort Warden just south of town, one of the "Triangle of Fire" forts built to protect the Puget Sound from invasion of those crazy Brits. Right out of the parking lot the sign says, hey! its dangerous here! ![]() Chunk-o-fort ![]() One of the places you can fall and hurt yourself, I suppose. ![]() Europe, we want our guns back! ![]() Weeds grow where once was a really big pew pew (more of a boom boom) ![]() Point Wilson Lighthouse/bird dropping collector. Mt. Baker in the distance. ![]() Had perfect weather and many many miles of beach to explore ![]()

Damn Skip - you've done it again.
And thanks Paul - it really was a pleasant trip. Hanging out in old Santa Fe: Typical shop architecture Loretto Chapel's "Miraculous Staircase" with added handrails. As originally built (second pic below) - the sisters were so afraid of falling off the went up on their hands and knees. The mother superior eventually commissioned the balustrade. The Cathedral of Santa Fe, whose construction by Bishop Lamy is part of the wonderful Willa Cather novel, Death Comes for the Archbishop. Public art abounds in and around the streets of SF
