More Hawaii!
I carry a Nikon D750 with a 28-300 zoom... even so it was not enough to pull in all the Humpback activities happening 3/4 to a mile off shore.
It was good for pulling in other stuff.

Amazed to see local spear fishermen out hoping off next to the spouting horn.
No idea how and where they got back out

Lots of Monk seals hauled out on the quieter beaches, easy to give them the prescribed 30' of space with a decent lens

I admire you carrying that kit, Skip. It's not what I would consider 'light of weight'.

Thanks for sharing your pics with us all.

"Thanks for sharing your pics with us all."

You Bet Scott!

I'm happy peeps enjoy them, I'm lucky to be able to drag my carcass around a bit, never get tired of travel and new discoveries in familiar old areas!
I'm the guy with a rucksack and too much junk along, I do enjoy photography!

My last drive up to Baker Lake was great until it wasn't... thought I was having transmission issues of some kind on the way back, motor was running warm so I nursed it back until I got into town and it was close to home when something let loose in the engine.
Barely got it home, cushioned by knowing a new to me motor was being built and I wouldn't be leaving the car out in beer bottle range.
More on all that soon, fresh thread material...

Current endeavor

This is a first.

Lived on the far over 25 years and I have never seen a dead Osprey on land. I have rescued one from the water with a broken wing, but I have never come across this before. From my walk/ride with Dottie today.

Found the Osprey near the water. The head is still there but I did not disturb it today...the weather hear have been very, very cold and I am sure a fox or other predator will claim it later.

If it is still there tomorrow afternoon, I'll call the Department of Natural Resources and they can do whatever they need to do. I won't even pick up feather from Ospreys or the Bald Eagles that surround the farm.

Dottie seemed very concerned.

I guess ospreys are protected? I wasn't aware. I certainly would not touch a bald eagle and would reach out to the authorities. Don't need to go messing around with what I'm sure is Federal laws.

To be frank, I am not sure with the Ospreys but I didn't want to disturb it then find out they are...I looking it up now. The Bald Eagles, and I get it and respect it, are on the "Yes Fly" list and we do follow all the rules.

Weird but I'll side with protection of all these magnificent fliers.

Right, I find it weird if I read about raptors or swans being attacked or killed in the UK.

Turns out they are not, at least in Maryland. It was still there yesterday so I called the DNR and they said just put it in the river.

The neck was clearly broken. It must have hit the tree it was lying under at high speed.

I love watching Osprey hunt up in the mountain lakes, they do have on the job hazards to contend with, I've wondered how often a wind gust messes them up.

Early days of ownership
