DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST SHOW
I have so many questions! Anyone have an idea on why the "other" Boomer's let the "BSG" Boomer leave the nuke? Was it just so BSG Boomer could get back to the ship and complete her real mission? Why would the Cylons sacrifice an entire Base Star? Why send it to Kobol in the first place, if theplan was to let it be destroyed? #6 & Baltar were looking at a baby, right? Boomer's baby? What the heck? Could the last scene have been a dream by Boomer? ... due to the shock of what she saw on the Base Star? Why did they send only one #6 to intercept Starbuck? Or, was that a chance encounter at the museum? - Skip

Boomer's baby ? How about HIS baby with the blondie ? That would make more sense to sway him.... Hell, I'd join the cylons if I had that blondie in my head ;-)

Battlestar Gallactica is my favorite new show! (How did I miss this thread?!)
I absolutely LOVE the new Battlestar Gallactica. It's dark, gritty, imperfect. Good intrigue and plot. Lot's of 'edge of your seat' stuff too! Those are essential elements of a good sci-fi series in my opinion. They don't over-do the special effects either. I loved the original series as well. It seems that the original series appealed to teenagers, while today's series is more taylored to adults. Looks like they did that on purpose - those who liked the original will more likely like a sci-fi show geared towards adults. The surpise ending (When Adama contrats Shanon) was quite a shock to me. It will be interesting to see how that pans out. Some didn't like the fact that Starbuck and Boomer are women in the new series. I like it: they kept enough of the old series and added some new stuff to make it appealing. Like the 'cylons look like humans' element too. I like Boltar. (James Callis) Great acting - is there a cylon image 'implanted' in his brain? Or is there some type of telepathic communication between Number Six and Boltar? OR, is Boltar truly a mad-man? Regarding the 'x-ray' stuff - it turns out the the cylons are oranic in nature, and only when you get to an autopsy can you tell the difference. As such, Boltar has created a device that can determine if a person is a cylon or not. He needed to use a nuclear warhead to create it. Love the conflict between Adama and the president. That 'keep the sides in check' works very well between the two characters. The fact that Richard Hatch is involved in the new series gives a good amount of support to the new show. Looking forward to the second season. Starts up again in July. Yes, I am totally hooked on this new show!

It's funny... Sometimes I'm POSITIVE that he's just weak and "mad". Other times he's implanted or an actual Cylon with Boomer-like "programing" (that keeps the truth hidden from himself). A true mystery that keeps me guessing... Quote:
Boomer is NOT hard to look at. And, for some reason, Starbuck is weirdly attractive to me, in a way I can't explain. Something about her smile... The whole show is simply incredible. The acting is superb. The character development "right on". The special affects and cinematography give the show an incredible sense of realism. I LOVE the space shots/scenes... The lack of sound and the way they zoom in from far away really gives a unique representation of the expanse of space. It's taken my #1 spot (previously held by 24) as best show on TV. I listened to some of the director's commentary from the BSG web-site. It sounded like he didn't know where the show "will go" next season, as far as story line/plot. It was also weird hearing him talk about other "ideas" for ending the finale that they didn't do, but would have changed the ending in drastic ways. Listening to him, he almost gave a sense that the story had a life of it's own. July is long away. ![]() - Skip

I think Boltar is human, or at least part human. Otherwise the whole 'defection to the cylons' won't make sense. I really don't think he's a cylon.
I believe that the cylon tester/detector is indeed functional. Perhaps when he leaves someone will have to learn how to use it! The whole 'cylons look like humans' is one of the new elements that makes the new series fresh, IMHO. The space 'pan & scan' shots are great. I believe they wanted to film it as if you were sitting in a raptor in space watching the whole thing. I am glad that they are not over-playing it. The CGI isn't as hard edged as some other sci-fi shows (ie: Star Trek Voyager), and that also adds a better realistic feel to the scenes. Glad to have found some Gallactica P-heads! Hmm - we've got 3+ months to discuss and mull over the possibilities! I also like the religious overtones and the archeological aspects - again, it really adds to the realism and the grittiness. I also like the use of colors, especially RED on the cylon woman. (Seems when she's most 'cylon' she's dressed in red.) That said, I do not find number six to be attractive. One question I ponder is this: why would they want to find earth knowing that the cylons would be not far behind? Are they thinking that the folks on earth would find a way to destroy the cylons? I know the whole 'quest for earth' started with the first series, but even in the first series, it doesn't make much sense to bring that type of danger to fellow human beings. -Z.

I like Stargate SG1 for the same exact reasons; religious and archeological overtones. IMHO, they do it better. Not to mention the humor. Ever notice the asides to the Wizard of Oz? One girl, one guy each with brains, courage, and compassion. Interesting. I have really tried to get into BSG and so far, despite some interesting characters, it suffers from the same problems(?) the original series had: a VERY limited physical aspect. It reminds me of watching a series about a submarine and never seeing anything but the inside of the sub. Just a different take.

I don't think Roslyn is a Cylon -- but that's an interesting slant.
I also don't think Adama is dead - just hurt real bad and it will take some time for him to get better... I wonder what they are going to do with Bommer #1 -- the one that's been on the Galatica since the beginning -- not the one on Caprica (who has her own little secret -- don't want to spoil it for others, ya know...) Season two starts up July 15th -- CAN'T WAIT! PS: To hold me over until then, I bought the original series box set and I'm going through the old episodes. Back when I was a kid, I was so into that series -- now, the newer one seems to fit the bill so much better. It would be great to see other original cast on the new series -- like Dirk Benedict and such. Glad to see that Richard Hatch is endorsing the new show. Best sci-fi series going today... -Z.

Been watching my box set old series episodes since the first season ended. Still good stuff, but far more cheesier than this new series! -Z.

I've been catching up on this series...piecing the first season together by watching out-of-sequence reruns. I'm very anxiously anticipating tomorrow night.

Edit Also note: posting inappropriate pictures or other content during the time that Battlestar Galactica is airing will also have similar results as calling me on the cell phone! Besides, I don't think nostatic is a Galactica fan... I take my sci-fi shows very seriously! ![]() -Z-man. PS: Love the background music for the series - adds alot to the show!
