There is a legit bit torrent out there now. Just make sure you get the one that is over 700mb. The 350mb one is a porno virus.

Well, I'll be damned. It wasn't earth. At least not the one we live on. Craziness, I actually really liked the ending.
I've been thinking about the mixed reviews people have been giving for the last few years. First and foremost, the series "Band of Brothers" forever changed television. I think this was really the first movie quallity expanded storyline show. Since then, movies have gotten worse, and I think this is due to the fact that we don't feel that they can tell any type of story or have character development in 2 hours. So we watched the miniseries or the first season and got hooked. We all had a "What the frak is this" moment that started us down this road. The first season was awesome "What if and How so" sci fi. It answered lots of questions about how humans would live in space and run from an enemy. Then the second season sucked because they started writing non plot driven episodes. The new caprica episodes and the liberation and then the hub and razor. Those got back to being more plot driven. We got somewhat hooked again with more plot lines and forward movement even though it was moving at a snail's pace sometimes. And then the end and all of the revelations. I don't think it could have lived up to some peoples expectations because they had gotten off the bus quite a while ago. For me, it was a great show and I'm sad that it is gone, but I don't regret being a fan. The biggest problems that I had with the show were the illogical and incorrect writing of military officers and pilots to some degree. If I wasn't both myself, I doubt this would have been as big an issue. Of course, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have been standing on my couch screaming at my television when there was a legitimate opportunity to shoot Baltar or off a Cylon, but that was part of the show. Thanks to Skip for starting this thread. Thanks to Zman and legion and red beard and others for keeping it going. I'm sure we'll easily pass 1100 posts. I wonder where this ranks with non-porsche related threads on Pelican?!

I thought the exact opposite.
It totally blew. The whole last 2 seasons were total ****. Such a shame that what was once such a great show was turned into some....frak...i don't even know WHAT they turned it into, but it sucked bad. The finale was pure drek. Total crap that explained NOTHING. I personally wish i'd stopped watching after season 3. |

WTF was that? Total nonsense. The entire Starbuck storyline, in the end, total mumbo-jumbo nonsense. Quote:

He was a survivor and leader of his race, there's no effing' way he'd just blow his brains out. What a totally lame, lame, lame scene. Made no sense whatsoever. Why would obsolete models be kept around in working order for decades after they'd been retired? They wouldn't. Sadly, it was pretty much exactly what i expected. Crap. Quote:
It is a shame the way the show spiraled into some pseudo-religious toilet the last 2 seasons. What a waste. Quote:
Crap. I was so utterly disappointed i did not even notice him. Quote:
Bladerunner is what battlestar galactica tried to be and so TOTALLY failed at. Frankly, in the final analysis, i liked the ORIGINAL show better. Much better. Really, the last 2 seasons of Neo-BSG were pure trash. Like new Metallica vs old. Just no comparison at all. None. |

You should read some of the blogs, there are many people who feel exactly like me.
When you spend 5 years watching a show you come to the expectation that the finale won't disappoint in every way possible. Whoops.... Neo BSG, in the end, was nothing more than a total-fail. I think i'll go watch Blade Runner. |

What did you like about the second season? I thought that was the one that sucked.

My main beef with the ending is how Starbuck was handled. From what I gather, the original script called for he to die and never come back...and Galactica would follow her beacon to the burned-out Earth. Pretty much nothing would have changed except that Starbuck would not be there. The whole "harbinger or death...lead them to their end" thing would have made WAY more sense.
But the writers got attached to the character and decided to bring her back anyway. I think she should have stayed dead, and her character would have had a bigger impact.

She was, but apparently a different kind of angel that everyone could see, could make vipers materialize, and could frak.

gettin' frakked by an angel...now that would be nice. overall I was disappointed in the series as well.
BTW suspension of disbelief not withstanding. how were any of them going to do anything with no tools and no resources? Adama sititng up on a hilltop talking about building a cabin for one.

Anyone else glad that Hera kicked the bucket in the Epilogue? I don't mean to sound cruel, but jeez what a pointless character.

I have been critical of the last few seasons of BG. The writing was inconsistent. Characters took on different personalities episode to episode. Too many story lines seemed implausible at best. The cracks all over Galactica, and repairing them with cylon goo was the stupidest storyline in the history of television. So my expectations were low going into the final episode. But I thought the final episode was decently good. Lots of implausible stuff, and I agree with most of what M21sniper points out, but I think because my expectations had been beaten down into the ground that the episode exceeded my expectations. So now that BG is over we rented the first couple seasons of the British show, Coupling. It's FUNNY. And my wife who normally doesn't like British humor even loves it.
