Well, there you go again. I posted poll results for three Republicans on the ropes, and you seem to think they all are. Honestly, remedial reading. Think about it.

If you have poll results that contradict these, great. Or any substantive argument -- great. Who won an election last only indicates who is under scrutiny now. And Taft, Scwarzenegger and Bush are all failing to impress.

In October, polls by the Burlington Free Press, the Becker Institute and the Mason-Dixon poll gave Dean anywhere from 64 to 75 percent of the vote.

According to exit polls Tuesday, Dean remained popular even among voters who said their family finances had gotten worse in the last four years. Fifty-eight percent of those voters chose Dean. Three-quarters of independents voted for Dean, as did three in 10 of conservative voters and 60 percent of moderates.

Dean has won high approval ratings since he took office in 1991 -- his 1994 opponent, Republican David Kelly, won only 19 percent of the vote.
Dean was a very popular governor, he took heavy hits (temporary) for signing a civil union bill put on his desk - signed it because he felt it was wrong to discriminate against a minority.

He would of made a great president.

Tech,

Polls can be worked to show what the person wants to show. I spent years working with them and anyone who has done this know its true.

You feel that they are down and out, there are those of us who feel differently. I cannot wait until the next election and remind you of this. Then you can read the results. Hope the crow tastes good...

Course what am I saying. The Democrats are lost and will not find their way for years. Acting like this must be what its like to have no leadership or forward progress.

Yeah, but voters are stupid, and they'll associate the rest of the party with these crooks.

And I'll say again that I think in the long term Dubya will take first prize in the race for the bottom. He's doing more damage to my country than any president I've imagined in my wildest nightmares.

Wait just a minute, I though you were a Democrat? They are not supposed to say things like "voters are stupid". This would be insulting to the poor, downtrodden, disadvantaged people they are so-called helping (from their lofty intellectual position).

(I hope people realize I am joking. Maybe some rolling eyes?)

I have just realized the answer to the question, "How do we get Joe-sixpack interested in politics?"

[answer] Somehow fix the fact that all politics (repub and dem) is a huge frickin joke. Two sides to the proverbial bad penny.

Yep, Dean would make a good president ...of vermont. The rest of the country would not urinate on him if he was on fire. What a shrill, mouthpiece! He could not even beat out a loser like Kerry for the nomination...with only democrats voting. If you want to see a really popular democratic governor....it was Zell Miller. His exit polls were much higher than Dean's. Too bad he is too honest to be part of the current democratic party.

Since Cindy Sheehan has become the party spokesman...will you run her for President next election? You could pick up the few remaining communist votes you were not already getting.

Brilliant and insightful analysis, chibone. It certainly helps us understand your ability to address these complex issues. Or lack thereof.

I'm fine, chibone. Keep the towel. If I start to feel really whiney and don't have anything intelligent to say, I'll post a picture of a crying baby and characterize it as a Republican. For now, I'm fine.

BTW, this thread is about Republican statesmen who have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar. It's called "Republicans On The Ropes" and that's what we're talking about. Care to join us?

Add this one to the growing list:

Former Bush official indicted in lobbyist probe
Ex-chief procurement officer charged with false statements, obstruction

Updated: 5:53 p.m. ET Oct. 5, 2005
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration’s former chief procurement official was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury on charges of making false statements and obstructing investigations into high-powered Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

You only wish they were "caught" doing something illegal. An indictment means nothing...especially when used as a political tool. The dems play more dishonestly every day.

I heard somebody say "the Republicans have created a culture of corruption."

So little of what's happening makes the media, that I think most aren't aware of the incredible sleaze going on out there -- even with the Katrina recovery efforts. you'd think that Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama contractors would get the bulk of the cleanup contracts, but apparently not.

---------------
Gulf Firms Losing Cleanup Contracts
Most Money Going Outside Storm's Path
By Griff Witte, Renae Merle and Derek Willis
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, October 4, 2005; Page D01

Companies outside the three states most affected by Hurricane Katrina have received more than 90 percent of the money from prime federal contracts for recovery and reconstruction of the Gulf Coast, according to an analysis of available government data.

The analysis by The Washington Post takes into account only the first wave of federal contracts, those that had been entered in detail into government databases as of yesterday. Together they are valued at more than $2 billion. Congress has allocated more than $60 billion for the recovery effort, and the ultimate total is expected to rise far higher.

Katrina's Aftermath -- Accountability

But already the trend toward out-of-state firms is clear, despite pledges by administration officials that federal funds for Katrina relief will become an engine of local economic redevelopment. Among the contracts analyzed, 3.8 percent of the money went to companies that listed an Alabama address, 2.8 percent to firms in Louisiana and just 1.8 percent went for Mississippi contractors. Taken together, that amounts to less than $200 million.

------------------

Who is getting the contracts? Do you really have to ask? Firms with ties to the Bush administration...

Attitudes like this are called denial. Course we know that no Dems have been caught like this.

I keep bringing up Peloisi and no one comments. Wonder how much she scammed out of her contributors but then she is a Dem and she does not have to abide by the same laws.. right?
