Another interesting point is that the site Rodeo links to doesn't even use the word lie. Not once. Every statement says "This is why this statement is misleading:" Can we all agree to be a little more diligent on the use of the word lie??

Yeah, that would be nice. But the term has been grossly abused. It's like perjury, you must prove that the person uttering the statement knew it was a falsehood at the time of utterance. Most "lies" are incomplete misleading statements.
Even Rumsfeld when he said he knew exactly where the WMD were gets off the hook because he believed they were there. He didn't have any concrete evidence to show but he just believed they had to be there. He was wrong. He didn't lie, but he said a statment without a basis of evidence.

well, according to dictionary.reference.com:
lie2 n. 1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood. 2. Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression. So it seems to hinge on intent. I suppose you could say that all the statements were just stupid/ill-informed and had no intent to deceive or give a wrong impression... |

"Congress saw the same intelligence as I did." he lied just the other day.
But what's a guy to do when all of his policies have failed and he has absolutely no plan for winning in Iraq and bringing our Military home? Deflect of course, blame the other side even though your party is overwhelmingly in control of all levels of government.

Thread closed? I think we should change this to "Bush's daily lie" thread. Every day, print what he says, find the lie and post it. Doing a heck of a job Brownie.

Rodeo, you now know why I don't take you seriously. You are what you claim Mull to be, an immature troll that spews rugurgitated partyline BS without either the knowledge or perhaps the ability to back it up. Please don't be shocked when I dismiss you offhand next time. Shaun, The above is a fair attempt. So you believe Bush saw different intelligence than Congress. I won't try to weasel on this at all as I heard Bush say it as well. So lets start here: Do you have an example of intelligence that Bush received that Congress did not or is this an assumption that something different must have been in his PDB's or the like?

And its kind of an artificial construct to limit it only to words that flow from the president's mouth. He has lots of people that lie for him. Scotty McClellan is just amazing to watch. He either lies or ducks questions with amazing dexterity. Just to pick a couple:
Neither Karl Rove nor Scotter Libby had anything to do with leaking Valerie Plame's name. That became, we can't comment on a "pending investigation" How about the president will fire anyone involved with leaking Valerie Plame's name. That became, if you are convicted of a crime, we'll probably fire you How about the president does not support torture. All the wile the VP is on Capitol Hill lobbying as hard as he can against the McCain bill that passed 90-9 The doublespeak and duplicity is overwhelming.

Here's another lie by bush: "I will fire anyone involved in outing a CIA agent." Then he changed it to "convicted of a crime." hey, if you want to go down the same road hand in hand with Bill Clinton, that's fine by me, just know that you will suffer the consequences. Please don't disappoint me.

"I strongly believe he was trying to reconstitute his nuclear weapons program." Source: President Bush, Prime Minister Blair Discuss War on Terrorism, White House (7/17/2003). This to you is a lie? Again, the reasons you're not to be taken seriously are self evident. [sigh]

Don't do it Shaun. He'll just keep asking questions, have you run around getting him answers that he will ignore with more loaded questions. When, after many, many pages, you finally tie up every conceivable loose end, he'll start another thread elsewhere. Click on his name and you will see he contributes sarcastic questions that suggest answers. And little else. As to actual data, or logical argument, you will find none.
Just take solace that daddy and those like him are down to 35% or so of the population .

Didn't Dubya say he believed Kerry's military record to be accurate and legitimate, and that his medals were deserved? That's a whopper right there; I don't think even Kerry believed that one. He was just trying to be nice...

Shaun said "Bush lied cause he said Congress saw the same intel he did." I said "Ok, what did Bush see that they didn't?" Shaun said "........stuff, obviously" I said "seriously??????.........stuff? Any examples at all?" Shaun said "I quit" FIN
