If the Clownboys don't pick up Shanahan as the new head coach, they won't deliver to the fans once again next season.
Keep it in the NFC East! Go Eaglettes.

I think the New York Jets are part of the worst the NFL has to offer... The Eagles are among those perenially poor teams also...Odd because both teams live in high dollar markets.

3 games that aren't Superbowls? That they won games 40 or so years ago that were not called Superbowls counts for?? Funny because I am a Jets fan....

How about we just call the Eagles winners of 3 NFL championships?
I mean seriously, if the NFL changed the name of the Championship game next year from the Super Bowl to the "Corporate Sponsor-bowl", do you think all the Superbowl championships won when it was called the Superbowl suddenly become nothing? Just because they came up with a different name for the game? Say the NBA next year changes the name of the "NBA finals" to the "Super-Series"? All those titles won by all those great teams suddenly mean nothing? Is Jordan or Wilt or Dr. J or Magic or Birds' or the teams they played for legends reduced? Of course not, that's silly. Again: The Eagles are the only team to ever beat Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay dynasty in the playoffs (1960 championship game, final score 17-13). That's ever. It is folly to minimize the monumental nature of that feat. The Eagles' Lombardi trophy IS Vince Lombardi. They are the only team that can ever make that claim. :-P And despite the fact that 1969 is also ancient history, the Jets only (SBIII) championship is still a championship, anyway you slice it. What the game is called is irrelevant. I give the Jets full credit for it, and would never besmirch their feat in beating the big-bad Colts. All told the Eagles have been to 5 championship games, and won 3. The only one that they didn't play extremely well in was SB XV (blown out by the Raiders. Of course no one here cares much about that, as we kicked the snot out of Dallas in the NFC championship game to get there, hehehe). And none of this changes the fact that the 08 Dallas Cowboys (the "most talented team in the NFL"- LOLOLOLOL) are a smoking pile of wreckage and ruin. ![]() 2 games vs the Eagles- 81 points surrendered, a 40.5ppg avg. I definitely would not call that perennially poor. If you go back to the mid 80s-mid 90s, they had the Randall Cunningham/Reggie white teams that were very talented and won a lot of games over many years. They struggled in the playoffs, but playing in the best division in football at that time (NFC East won 8 superbowls in the mid 80s to mid 90s) they were right in the mix every year and were always extremely entertaining to watch. I think during one stretch during that teams hey day they went to the playoffs 6 years in a row, which was 2nd only to the 49s, who were the "team of the 80s". Man....Cunningham was incredible to watch play. AFAIK he is the only player in NFL history to win 3 league MVPs. And in the late 70s-early 80s they had Jaworski, Harold Carmichael and Wilbert Montgomery, and that team went to a Superbowl too. Perhaps my perspective is skewed, but based on all that it seems silly to call the Eagles a perennially poor team. ![]() Quote:
A Dallas trade to the titans for QB Vince Young, with Shanahan's run happy offense and Dallas' battery of good backs and Dallas' pressure defense would be a lot of fun to watch play. Of course Shanahan runs a 4-3, a scheme the Cowboys personnel is not well suited for. That alone would require a lot of additional changes. It would be great, but i'd be pretty shocked if the Eagles got past Carolina and the NFC championship game on the road, even if they beat the Vikes(probable) and Giants(plausible). Who makes it from the AFC? I'm thinking the Colts...they've won 9 in a row....red, red hot. Last edited by m21sniper; 12-31-2008 at 12:08 AM.. |

Lions.
0-16 !!!!!!!!!!!! Since the late 50's, they've been consistent. Other teams mediocrity may come & go, but the Lions go on and on. Sure, sometimes you can see professional-quality football in Michigan - in Ann Arbor! |

You have to give the eagles kudos for one other thing, they were smart enough to get rid of that football cancer AKA terrell owens.
He hurts every team he is on no matter what his stats say. |

Yes, you did mention the 3 losses. Only one victory with Andy & Donovan. Hey, the Bills made it to 4 straight Super Bowl (2 losses to Dallas, btw....if you forgot).
Watching Ronde Barber run into the endzone in the 2003 Championship game to closeout the old Vet was awesome !!!! I slept like a baby that night !!!

Bragging? it's not like they're yours or my trophies. I am simply pointing out a simple fact.
The Eagles have won 3 NFL championships. The name of the championship game is irrelevant. Quote:

Oh wait, Lombardi's playoff record - the man they later named the championship game trophy after- doesn't mean anything because all of those titles he won weren't called "Superbowls" Hahaha, feel stupid? Becuase you sure sound stupid.

You forgot the Bengals.
Oh wait, everyone else has also. Consistently, year after year after year, decade after decade, the $hittiest team in the NFL.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqSVHk7NYgg&feature=related Should be some nice shots of the Panthers getting pwned by Brady and the Pats in there. Talking smack when the best your team could do was one measly fluke NFC title game against a banged up opponent only to lose the SB anyway is kind of ..... Gay.

ok, wait,,,,,just about 50 years and still no Championship / Super Bowl / No nothing.@!!!!!@
50 years is damn long time bro. Cowboys last won it in Jan. 96....still very fresh in my mind. Thank you Neil for your nice passes to Larry Brown. Team of the nineties! Yes, last decade but certainly four decades ago. I wouldn't trade the Cowboys history for the Eagles' for a Carrera GT. Yeah, respond all you want - 50 friggen years bro....50.....50! Have fun continuing to wait and wait and wait. Love Ronde Barber!!! Great way to close out a ****h*** of a stadium. |

I will go to my death bed swearing that neil odonnel was paid off in that game.
PS: Team of the 90s was the 49ers, not the cowgirls. The '94 49ers would beat any team dallas has fielded, ever. ![]() At any rate, it's as ancient and irrelevant of history as 1960 or 1995 is now. All that matters is now, and right now, the Dallas Cowboys are a waiting to be demolished group of mutts.

The Eagles lost the last two Super Bowls they played in. They are by far the worst representative the NFC East has in the big one. If St. Louis (Phoenix, Arizona, whoever they are) was still in the division, the Eaglettes wouldn't be the arm pit. We all know the NFC East is going to win it again this year, and lets hope that it's the Eagles who get it done. I can't believe I'm rooting for the Eagles, but I'm tired of seeing the Mannings in February.
San Fran in '94 was a great team, but the clownboys could have handed them their arse had it not been for fundamental mistakes that lead to a 21-0 Niners lead halfway through the 1st quarter. Don't get me wrong, the Eagles still suck, and in a worse way than the dead skins or giants. I think they have it this year, but we shall see if DM can do it.

The eagles are 3-2 in championship games (.600). The cowboys are 5-3 (.625) or something i think. I think Washington is 2-1 (.666), and NYG 3-0 (1.000)?
The Eagles were winning a championship vs the God of football (Vince Lombardi) when the cowgirls were but yet a glint in their daddies eye. ![]() Hehehe. Quote:
In the 92 NFC championship game the 49ers got robbed when an 80 yard Jerry Rice TD on the first series of the game got called back by some mickey mouse penalty. If not, they probably would've won that game too. But hey, if "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, it would be christmas every day. LOL. EDIT: Whoops, the Giants have won 6 NFL titles, not 3.
