Lack of scoring?? Are you serious? Have you even been watching the playoffs??

Buckterrier 05-27-2009 06:02 PM

Hockey needs to take a page from the NFL. The NFL does not want their star players, (quarterbacks), taken out of the game. Lose to much money. Personally I think they've gone overboard. Every time a Tom Brady gets a hangnail there's a rule made to stop it.
Unfortunately it will require a star player like a Crosby or Ovichken to get seriously hurt by a cheap shot before the NHL institutes rules against such tactics. They don't need to 'protect' the stars like the NFL but they do need to police the cheap shots a lot better.

Please see post # 4 in the thread. You can also look above if you are lazy. Thank you and have a good night.

Like it or not, its "put up or shut up" time for the Pens. The have no excuses this year. They are well rested, healthy, playing at a high level with their two stars leading all team. They are familiar with their opponent, have played them before under the same conditions and know what it feels to come up short. They way this team is playing has little to compare with the system they played last years. I look for higher scoring games. I'm feeling the younger, hungrier Pens will prevail.

Sonic dB 05-29-2009 10:18 PM

Damn Buckterrier...those peppers do look delicious....Im afraid though, that I wouldnt have much to barter against those... maybe an old DME relay for my 993, or my Fender Eric Clapton model Strat... or autographed Heather Thomas poster from the 80s....hmmm.

Anyway...here is some Old Time Hockey... to get you in the mood for tomorrow's matchup:

Spot on 89911.
Barry Melrose just predicted the Wings in 6, like he did last year and was right. Not this time. I see the Pens taking the game this evening.

GO PENS!!!!!!

I'll take that poster, mmmmmmm, lol. Man forgot how hidious those Pens uniforms were  And Dion's goalie mask, dang!

Por_sha911 05-30-2009 09:28 AM

Well, I predicted the Bruins and the Wings would be playing for the cup. Unfortunately, the Bruins suddenly stopped playing their game and the canes overcame the Bruin skill with pure energy and will to win. But I digress...
The Wings have the skill to win BUT they looked tired. They need some of their skilled players that have been off the roster to come back. Lindstrom for starters. If this goes 6-7 games, I begrudgingly give it to the Pens based on youth and health. If the Wings can find their legs and take an early lead they have a decent chance. Lastly, neither Ozzy or Marc Andre have been bulletproof. A strong showing from either one can be a deal maker. Ozzy has the experience and loves playoff hockey so the scales are tipped slightly in his favor. This should be great hockey.

Sonic dB 05-30-2009 05:51 PM

First period almost over. Detroit has the jump on the Pens, their old legs look fresher and the way they cycle the puck has the Pens running around. 1-0 Det.

Sonic dB 05-30-2009 05:53 PM

wow that was quick...bad rebound by Ozzie...Pens score on loose puck to tie it up 1-1.... Osgood couldnt find it in his pads.

Buckterrier 05-30-2009 05:58 PM

That goal will certainly give the Pens confidence. Two bad goals, (for the goalies).

m21sniper 05-30-2009 06:46 PM

What channel is this on? Is it even on regular TV?

Buckterrier 05-30-2009 06:57 PM

NBC Snipe

Sonic dB 05-30-2009 07:16 PM

3-1 Red Wings in the 3rd....despite the NHL refs doing their best efforts to not call obvious penalties on the Pens...the Wings are still ahead.

Osgood made several HOF saves early in the 2nd to keep the Pens from getting momentum.
