First game 7 win on the road in 46 years.
Lets go Wings, |
I hope the Habs beat the Caps cause a blown out Olympic's and a first round elimination might bring Ovechkin down to earth, he's good there is no doubt, just don't like his attitude, IMO the Kid is better and either one of the Sedin's are the best in the league. Biased cause of where I live , bring on the Wings, my prediction is the Canucks will win in 6

s_morrison57,
The Wings are heading to San Jose, Vancouver needs to get by Chicago to get a shot at them. Bill |

Tonights game could be a classic or Washington will blow them out is my prediction. Rooting for the Habs also. |

Thanks for the correction there, still Canucks over the Blackhawks in 6 |
Great the Flyers have not played in 6 days and they lost another key player

OK... pens win the 1st game, (Habs goalie just can't have back to back to back fantastic games). Pens in 6 |
Caps go down, leading 3-1, a number 1 seed versus a number 8. A couple of points:
Regular season hockey and playoff hockey are two different entities. The Capitals have a lot to learn. Ovechkin has taken a distant 2nd place to Crosby. Take away his point totals, (Crosby actually had more goals then him), and what do you have??? At least the comparisons can stop for this season. Montreal looks good, but I don't expect the same outcome with the Pens. The Pens record in playoffs over the last 3 years is 8-1, not to be confused with the Capitals. The are an unselfish team that has plenty of grinders to come through with a goal after the first 2 lines are done. Sooner or later they will score. Bring on the 2nd round!!:D |

As a Canucks fan I was really worried about the Kings and Lou wasn't as sharpe as he should have been since the Olympics but has seemed to turn things around, the Kings had our number all season so I was glad to see the Canucks move to the second round. Most of the remaining western teams have given us little problems this year, except at the start of the season. Problem is the intensity seems to increase from round to round and the eastern teams have it way easier through out the year and especially the play offs because of the travel

What I wouldn't give to see the Flyers win the cup. I was but a speck in my mothers eye in 74 and 75. |
Rich, we had season tickets for the Flyers from 1968 until 2003 and I still have all of the ticket stubs from both cup final wins, and all 4 other cup final losses. I know many of the old time Flyers well, I actually coach Clarke's grandson now. I have tipped beers with those guys and played a lot of hockey with the guys from the 70's and the 80's. Nothing would make me happier than winning a cup but I cant see how this team will make it without the 50 goals they lost to injury and Lappy who is out for the season now.
On the rival question, personally I hated the Islanders for a long long time and I am still bitter about the offsides goal in game 6 of the 1980 finals, but the Islanders have been so bad for so long its hard to hate them. The Rangers and the Devils are my next two hated teams but Pitt tops them all of a sudden. I dont have the hate for the Bruins that I used to, and I think its an interesting match up. The Bruins are such a low scoring team it should be interesting. |
After the Flyers voodoo curse wears off the Devils, there isn't much left for the rest of the teams. Boucher? Really? I am rooting for the Flyers to win there series. It will give the Pens an easier route to the finals. Hate on, Go Pens.

Was listening to the NHL channel on XM today. I'll paraphrase here as I don't remember the entire conversation per bat-um. But the Canadians were saying that it will be an entirely different set of problems covering Crosby because he'll do so many different things, crash the net, dump the puck in the corners, pass to a winger, do what it takes to win. Overcheckin as the Canadians said is very predictable. So for all you Crosby haters, NHL players know...
BTW... Pens 6 Habs 3 :D |
I'm looking forward to Mr Carcillo meeting Mr Chara in the corners.

It would just be nice for them too beat each other up and make our job that much easier, (if we beat the Habs), no matter which team it is :D Go luck to you and the Bruins today although I don't care which team wins. |
Bruins/Flyers game 1 was worth the price of admission! Each team had momentum and then lost it. Rask was a little leaky. A few injuries on both sides already. Best part of the game was the storybook ending: Savard's first game back since March and he gets the winning goal in OT!
