OK, here's a landscaping question: I want to place some decorative gravel and rocks in a couple places in my yard. I know the square footage to be covered. But when I go to gravel yards, how do I know how much to order? They sell stuff by the ton (or pound or basket) or some other unusual to me weight/volume. When I ask how much that'll cover, I sometimes get significantly varying answers. "Oh, a ton of those Mexican pebbles will cover about 35 sq ft." or "Oh, about 80 sq ft."

For my 930? Anytime.

For the Panamera? Try us next Wednesday (our regularly scheduled OR day). I'm serious. I've got bubkes going on that day. Only one case scheduled so far, and that woman won't return my office's phone calls to confirm her date. Let's have lunch and take the Panamera out.

The Maserati? That guy operates at our place on Thursday.

Heart surgeon here in OKC has a 911 turbo story. Was in Norman first town South of OKC when he got an emergency call for surgery in North OKC. It about a 45 minute drive all highway. He says he doesn't know how fast he was going because he didn't have time to look at the speedometer, but was driving as fast as the car would go. Along the way he passed a cop, then another. They were radioing ahead to try to catch him. They didn't catch him and he went straight into OR. A few minutes in a cop looked in on him and told them that if he hadn't been in OR he would have gotten a heck of a ticket.

I'll get you the number of the place my parents go to. My mom just had my dad and I do a project for her and the river rock she picked up came in 50# sacks.

Sorry Alarick, I've driven a 930 already. :D

K, lunch on Wed!

There's actually some little-known law in CA that a physician responding to an emergency is legally allowed to go up to 65 mph on surface streets, no matter the posted limit. 120 on the highway would probably be up to "officer discretion."

slodave 04-27-2012 11:59 PM

Known about it for years. ;)

Noah930 04-27-2012 11:59 PM

Fortunately I haven't yet had the need to look it up.

Since I have a really nice 928 GTS, it would be neat to have one each of the different GTS models. Cayenne GTS, 911 GTS, and Panamera GTS.

RKDinOKC 04-28-2012 12:02 AM

He was doing well over 120 if the cops ahead couldn't get to the highway before he passed. The cop probably was checking to make sure it was an emergency when he checked on him in the OR.

The doc with the Maser says that in his experience, wearing scrubs has definitely been helpful. When I went to school at USC, most of the students and residents lived in the Pasadena/South Pas area. Having a USC School of Medicine logo on your car was definitely helpful in avoiding getting a fast driving award, according to my classmates. To the point where the chief of police wrote a letter to the head of the hospital telling him to tell the docs to slow down because it was getting out of hand--his officers couldn't let everyone off the hook everytime.

Don't forget those uber rare collector models: the 924 GTS and 914 GTS.

RKDinOKC 04-28-2012 12:07 AM

Speaking of GTS. Got bad news today. The intake is not back from the powder coaters yet and the mechanic has next week already scheduled out. So that means he didn't get the engine back in this week as planned so I could pick it up the first weekend in May. He had to push it out another week. Sucks.

RKDinOKC 04-28-2012 12:09 AM

I thought the 924 and 914 were just GT and not GTS.

slodave 04-28-2012 12:10 AM

There was a 924 GTS, but the 914 was a GT.

Noah930 04-28-2012 12:14 AM

IIRC there was actually a 924 GTS. But no 914 GTS. The above was meant in jest.

Ut oh, there was a 904 GTS known as just the Carrera GTS. Well, fisk it, just too many GTS cars to collect for my 2 car garage.

RKDinOKC 04-28-2012 12:25 AM

Bob was a freak that could fly the snot out of that plane.

slodave 04-28-2012 12:29 AM

Still is. He ain't dead yet. :D Just not flying.
