Good morning folks.
Another busy day for me. |

Alarick, so sad to hear about your friends passing. But I'm glad that you have been around to see all of the extended family, and see so many old friends and acquaintances, it's always heartwarming to catch up with everyone and pass on memories of the friend who can't be there anymore. Funerals are so depressing, but the get togethers before and afterwards help.
|
Morning all. Off to Tuesday we go. Xmas decor is done. Now it is time to sit back and enjoy.
|
Jeff, loved the fact I opened the thread and there was the ginormous picture of your granddaughter. Made me smile ear to ear! Cutie she is!
Noah, sorry to hear about your friend. And what a horrible time of year. Hugs. I passed the phone interview! Face to face interview next week. I really hope this pans out. Don't want to jinx myself... |
When's the 1/2 marathon? Preparations for that ought to take you mind off of interviewing.

i can see a hexbug or three coming to our house for christmas. those things look really cool.
the good news: gigi is healing up. the wound closed overnight, like i thought it might, and no infection so far. the bad news: we gave the bullmastiff back to my brother. the dog has serious socialization issues. every dog that came by turned into a festival of posturing and aggressiveness. that dog is going to kill another dog, for sure. and it is over a year old, so i don't know that it can be cured. i also got more history: my brother took it to obedience school and they kicked it out because it couldn't get along with the other dogs. a bit more bad news: gigi is sore, today. poor thing. she looks at us like we crushed her last feeling by bringing that other dog home. she'll get better. in the spring, we'll get a puppy of some kind and raise it properly. gigi loves puppies and she can show it the ropes. that is the last time we take in an adult dog that someone needs to be rid of. we've been badly burnt twice. shame on us. |
This weekend. I have been so stressed and have had my mind preoccupied that training has been horrible. Just looking to finish and hang out with my grad school friends. Then when I get back, it's game time!
|
D, poor doggie. My sister had a mastiff. Sweet thing but so big!! Hope your other doggie is ok.
My son had one of those hex bugs. Liked it... |
Darrel, I think that Mastiff needs to lose a few ounces of testosterone producing things, if it hasn't already been neutered, you would be surprised how quickly that aggression will disappear. if it has already been neutered and it is still aggressive, then it should be put down before it seriously hurts a person especially a child. A large dog like that can easily kill a child, no mucking around. Glad you gave it back, Gigi wouldn't last too long with it around, dogs that fight are very bad news, and large dogs that fight are potential killers.
You did the right things giving it back. Start with a puppy, at least it is a product of your family surroundings not someone elses, dogs are like children, all about environmental conditioning. |
Tweeze, hurdle one over with the phone interview, fingers crossed for the face to face.
|
yep, neutered. still aggressive with other dogs. seeing two 100lb dogs fighting, both used for hunting bear, was a sight to behold, right in the living room. both of them standing on hind legs and teeth flashing. madness.
|
Any 100 lb dog that is aggressive at all should be put down, unless he is a junkyard dog and ONLY has contact with his handler and thieves.
|
My wife has hinted at taking in a rescue dog from someone to fill the void of Zoey. I just don't think it is fair to our 17 year old male that is blind and deaf. He navigates around the house and can find the doggie door when he need to go outside. He can find his way around the back yard and find his way back inside. No way could he handle a dog that wanted to play or bother him at all. He is the most mellow dog on the planet right now. Mostly he sleeps and eats.
|
glen, i hear you. i told my brother exactly what you said, above. i think he is at the point of having the dog put down.
i think you are correct, re. your older dog. the difference at our house is that gigi really does love puppies and i think she would be good with one. frankly, she was GREAT with ozzie, friendly and such, right up until it turned into a brawl. after that, she was withdrawn and depressed. she was still depressed this morning, but is perking up, especially after a peanut butter/tetracycline treat. the problem i have with rescue dogs, and we've had two now, is that they are rescue dogs for a reason. i am sure there are diamonds in the rough out there, but never again for us. i'll start with a blank slate. we've had two really good successes with blank slates. |
Jeff, she is beautiful, always sad that I didn't have a little girl, although with my genes she wouldn't have looked like that !!!!!!!
Maybe I will be lucky to have a little grand daughter eventually, no rush!!!!!!! |
I had a Doberman adopt me back in my single days. She just showed up on my front porch and hung out. She ended up being a great dog and I still miss her. She would scare most people just because she was a Doberman. I never thought twice when neighborhood kids wanted to play with her in the back yard.
One night at around 2:30 AM someone was pounding on my front door. She was watching the doorknob and making growling noises that would make me wet my pants if she had look at me and growled like that. She was serious. Whoever it was heard her barking and decided to leave. That was the event that made me decide to purchase a gun. |

A RF choke is usually associated with an active device or circuitry (eg an amplifier). Chokes are common in nearly everything not just in RF equipment, nor are there only RF chokes (AF chokes, common mode chokes). |

Thought I'd take a photo yesterday evening before she put food all over her head :D I think I've said it before, but if I'd know grand kids would be so much fun I'd had them first. Hope the next interview goes well for you Tweeze - I'm sure it will ;) |
Evening Y'all
Back at the other house the neighbor had a very very anti social rottweiler, that got loose one morning and pinned me against the side of my car, teeth and growling, I guess nobody bothered to tell the dog that Rick carries a gun, My bark was much worse than his. The neighbor threatened to call the cops, so I did him a favor and called them for him. He received a few charges for his trouble. |
