be sure and have the program encode to mpeg4, not h264, and the sound to AAC or MP3.

i am going to have to reboot to windows so i can see what i did, exactly.

this Linux is really cool and it comes with an installer. last time i played with linux, i got annoyed trying to install openoffice and bagged the whole thing. i am going to try the installer, later, and if it works, i may be dual booting to this linux. it is really really good.

also, david, i might try playing with a MUCH smaller file, so you aren't waiting 15 minutes between trials. that would get old really fast. that 9MB file you sent to me took about 15 seconds to encode.

Porsche-poor 11-15-2012 09:22 AM

I think I did. mp4 was the choice. Could be the machine I am on here at work is out dated

Porsche-poor 11-15-2012 09:22 AM

pshhht I have a 3 gig one to try!!!!!

tweezers74 11-15-2012 09:29 AM

I am not hung over. I don't get hang overs which is weird. Applying for more jobs...

But seriously a geek. Name the geekiest thing you could have done in school and I did it. Marching band, science club, math club. Took AP everything. Didn't belong to the chess club because we didn't have one. Total Geek. I should post my high school graduation picture. I had glasses that took up my whole face.

nynor 11-15-2012 09:30 AM

yeah, i know. but trying a small file until you get it sorted is gonna be much easier. IMO.

You sound like my son. Well, except for that whole opposite sex thing. ;)

nynor 11-15-2012 09:33 AM

also, change the video width to 1024. i think that the set width for the file, which is huge, is freaking out the playback program due to the amount of data it is trying to parse.

tweezers74 11-15-2012 09:34 AM

I would get along with your son then. :) Doesn't he surf too?

hah. i didn't want to be part of any club that would have me as a member. i just did all those things on my own, like making a still (at 17yo) in the kitchen from stuff around the house, growing mushrooms, making beer, homemade explosives, well, you get the idea. nowadays, the things we did would get you life in prison for 'terroristic acts', or some such.

Porsche-poor 11-15-2012 09:36 AM

geeks are cool!!!

attempting to re try, the audio was not set to mp3 and the vid was not mp4 lets see what happens now.

glen, i've been a computer nerd since about 1984, when my parents bought a TI computer with 64K of memory.

:D

Hey I bought a Commodore Vic 16 new. I knew 16K was not enough so I bought the 16K expansion card and had 32K of RAM. That expansion card would get HOT ater a few hours. I had a cassette tape drive to load and store programs. When the massive powerful Commodore 64 came out I jumped on that bad boy. I paid 600 bucks for a floppy drive and 300 baud manual dial modem and got on Compuserve. Just text on a black background but I could connect to the world and ordered a pair of jeans. I got my first Compuserve bill and almost fainted. They charged by the minute and everything is SLOW at 300 Baud.

I even published two editions of the War Whoop our local PCA newsletter with that C-64 connected to a typewriter. I had to solder together the connections but it worked great, slow as heck but great.

Now I have a computer that has 32 Gigs of ram. From 16K to 64 Gigs is a few orders of magnitude.

i have the video set to 'mpeg-4 (FFmpeg)' and the audio set to 'AC3 (FFmpeg)' with it set to stereo and 128bit encoding.

also, under the picture tab, i set the width to 1024. the software will resize the height automatically.

nynor 11-15-2012 09:44 AM

snowboarding makes me a geek?

Porsche-poor 11-15-2012 09:47 AM

that one went really fast but the media player will not accept it. so I need to figure out the update there or try at home on a newer machine.

Only if you can snowboard while recalling Latin declensions and conjugations.

Porsche-poor 11-15-2012 09:55 AM

a sure fire way to hit a tree

Jim Richards 11-15-2012 09:56 AM

Yes, it is.

GH85Carrera 11-15-2012 09:59 AM

Those tree things are hard and dangerous.
