That is on the downhill slide to going home. Hang in there and watch for potholes.

I found it (spankings) to be necessary on the rare occasion.

My kids grew up knowing that I was true to my word. If I told them they would get a spank the next time they repeated the unsavory activity they just undertaken they got a spank.

I can not remember the last time I spanked them, and I bet they can't either.

My wife came up with a good one for tantrums if we were out. She'd let it be the kids choice whether they got a spank or not. She'd just calmly say to them 'We can do this two ways, we can go home now all happy with smiley faces, or you can get a smack and we can go home sad. What would you like to do?' We never had too many tantrums.

Both kids grew up to be wonderful people.

how about a good old butt kicking? and on that note see later.

nynor 10-29-2012 05:01 PM

this is a very recent turn of events. i find it rather amusing. my wife does not. he doesn't have tantrums in public, because we immediately leave whatever we are doing and go home. he only tested my wife on this twice. he knows better than to test me (not that i'll get violent or something, but because he knows that i am even quicker about doing what i say i will than angie).

a couple of days ago, he chose to sit on a chair for fifty minutes, being ignored, rather than put his clothes on so we could leave the house. i sat there and messed with his favorite toy for entire 50 minutes, just to mess with his resolve. he held out for much longer than i think i would have been capable of doing.

he is still upstairs, tantruming, by himself, even though he's been told he can leave his room, etc., go to the park, etc. he'd rather throw a tantrum, apparently. LOL!

Just walked the dog...nice winds out there. Gusts into the 50's mph. Not nearly as bad as what the folks are seeing further up the coast.

Speaking of FB... I lost my first FB friend. :D He wears a tinfoil hat and I often engaged him when he posted nonsense on chemtrails. He posted again the other day and said:" if you and I have argued about this before, don't comment". So I did. :D As of last night, he's no longer on my freinds list. Oh well.
