It will be 72 and sunny this afternoon. :)

It this rain doesn't let up we are going to be 72 and floating. It is just coming down way to fast for the ground to take right now

ha! you move here?

GH85Carrera 10-07-2013 07:41 AM

That storm came rushing through here and dumped just over an inch and left. It was a noisy sucker. Lots of lightning and thunder.

One of my wife's co-workers who votes and drives a car actually said once "we had a lot of thunder but no lightning last night"

Rick V 10-07-2013 07:43 AM

Well we now have both thunder and lightning. at 10am.

GH85Carrera 10-07-2013 07:52 AM

Our house is close to the "antenna farm" where most of the TV stations and radio stations are located. I can be in my garage and watch a big lightning storm roll through and those antennas take a lot of hits. My commute takes me through the heart of them. I have been driving and watched several of them taking a strike. Its very awesome.

Stay high and dry Rick.

Rick V 10-07-2013 07:55 AM

I was close to a lightening strike once and care not to go through that again. A very tall tree was taken out about twenty five feet from my house. Beth flipped out

As kids we were out riding bikes on the pathways of the golf course when a big storm came up. We were smart enough to crowd into a lightning shelter. It looked like a bus stop with open sides. The important thing is it had a tall lighting rod on top of the shelter. A bolt hit that rod 3 feet over our head. I vividly remember the hair on our heads stood up and then the world exploded. The sound and the bright light was intense. We were all deafened and the smell of ozone was bad. The lightning rod was melted but we were all fine. I never want to be that close to that much power again.

It is impressive and I love watching storms, just not being an active participant of them.

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 08:18 AM

move here very seldom do we have thunder storms.

Rick V 10-07-2013 08:31 AM

I would be happy to move there David.
1: make the rain stop
2: abolish all snow
3: increase your average temp by at least 40 degrees
4: lower your humidity by at least 50%
5 : Reduce your population per SqMile by at least 50%
I'll consider it

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 08:37 AM

Long list....
ask God or wait for climate change.

Rick V 10-07-2013 08:40 AM

I'm kinda picky like that. :)

Rick V 10-07-2013 08:41 AM

When I was looking at Ca, I made a list of pro's and con's. I had but one pro.

Thunderstorms are cool, as long as you are inside a car or building.

Rick V 10-07-2013 08:51 AM

Car? Oh hell no. You can believe that old wives tail about them not being grounded if you would like. I have worked on too many that were struck by lightning. You want to talk about a charred mess.

GH85Carrera 10-07-2013 08:57 AM

Mostly the car body is a faraday cage. The people inside should be OK. The car may not be OK. It for sure is better than being outside of the car for humans.

Rick V 10-07-2013 09:16 AM

Well given the choice of outside or in the car I totally agree, but I wouldn't seek a car if I had other options, I also wouldn't get out of one if I was there to begin with

GH85Carrera 10-07-2013 09:26 AM

Yea, mostly t-storms are cool to watch from the safety of a building. But folks are killed inside buildings sometimes.

Rick V 10-07-2013 09:28 AM

I love watching them when they are out over the ocean
