I walked out side once and started up the driveway, gray day, wasn't really raining, hadn't heard thunder/lightning. Was looking up at the sky when it lit up blue in a way I've never seen before, as pretty much simultaneously a bolt took out a tree <40 feet from me. Its weird looking UP a lightning bolt. Scared me speachless, it dumped rain as I walked back in, couldn't talk for probably a minute.

Lived 35 years in a house with a 60 foot high grounded CB radio antenna attached. It was pretty much the tallest thing in the area and 3 miles from the nearest one of those tall TV station antennas. It never got struck that I know of. Since the odds are better for getting struck by lightening than winning the lottery I do not buy lottery tickets.

My brother's house got struck through a TV antenna on the roof. It went down through the cable and into the house wiring. Set his attic on fire. Everyone in the house woke up standing in their beds with their hair standing on end. He was able to put the fire out before much damage was done, but did need to replace all the electronic devices in the house, tv's, radios, computer, etc..

Lightning is some scary stuff, but the power is simply awesome. It would be incredible if that power could be captured and stored, if the power company would allow such an endeavor to be done

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 12:34 PM

Ok I'm back. You have all the thunder storms I end up with out the power. Servers back online for now.

So you don't like where I live what else ya want to pick on?

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:37 PM

No I actually don't like the idea of living somewhere where your toes web together and people get tattoos to cover up the gills they are starting to generate

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 12:41 PM

that would be Oregon. In Washington we are a little more selective in who get to stay here.

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:45 PM

You mean like only the sheeple that follow the Starbucks trend and mentality?

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 12:48 PM

There you go again.

quit trying to put everyone in a box.

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:49 PM

Well you do know there is a reason we put that area where we did.

porsche4life 10-07-2013 12:50 PM

If we don't put you engineer types in a box, how will there be a box for the rest of us to think outside? ;)

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:51 PM

You don't go outside in that area, you will get soaked

Porsche-poor 10-07-2013 12:52 PM

yep on the left coast so as not to be the "right" coast. heard it all before get a new line.

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:53 PM

I never said anything about a coast, you brought that one up

Not an engineer.

Now interns belong in a box.

porsche4life 10-07-2013 12:56 PM

Good thing I haven't been an intern for nearly a year. ;)

And I know you aren't an engineer. But you work in that field. ;)

Rick V 10-07-2013 12:57 PM

True but you were leaning that way. Correct?

So tell me why did we wind up here?

Rick V 10-07-2013 01:00 PM

We were starting a mock fight to see if we could get anybody to bite. :D

He does not work in a field, he works indoors. He would get we if he worked in a field.
