Hey Sid we are supposed to have 40 MPH gusts of wind tomorrow. Are you sure you don't wanna come hang some signs?

It's the frame of reference, although there is a bit of gravitational lensing going on when it is on the horizon.

well, the rover is toast. head-gasket, again. we cannot afford the $1700 shop bill, being we just forked out $1600 for the same repair on the subie. besides which, i don't believe that the rover is even worth $1700.

it still runs, no water/coolant mixing, but the gasket is breached to the outside of the block and it sounds like a machine gun, when running.

the plan is to put it up for sale, as is, full disclosure. we have 14 years worth of receipts, including an old man emu complete suspension rehaul, which is pretty cool, IMO. i am very very very sad. if it doesn't sell by march or april (it is simply too cold to be tearing the engine down during the winter and the rover doesn't even fit in the garage and we don't have the money right now to even buy the parts), i'll tear it down and do the work myself. i am thinking $600 in parts and machining, including a new timing chain.

anyway, its nice to vent.

when it rains, it rains brimstone.

Damn D, that sucks!

Why timing chain? It's a valley cam shaft with lifters right?

because there is no way i am tearing that engine down, with 160k on the clock, and not replacing a $110 item that might create a catastrophic failure. also, i think the original equipment timing sprockets might be nylon or some crazy crap.

If you do end up fixing it, go to Rovers North. Headgaskets are $20 each, timing chain is $30

D, Bummer. Rover Cannibal is in downtown OKC. They got whole motors, no idea how much they want though.

The stereo in my Rover is worth more than the Rover itself.

Tried to get the AC to work better last summer, but seems the heat and air both on a Classic are more of a suggestion than actual climate control.

Even though the Rover has been very reliable, plan is to eventually replace it with a Cayenne for my winter beater. The S's are getting below $10K.

Things I've come to realize today/within the last week:

If you're not scamming the system, you're being scammed BY the system. It's one or the other. There is no in between.

The more you do for people, the less they become able to do for themselves.

Phew.

I have another 5x5 foot print to make. Wrestling with the 60 inch wide x 100 foot long roll of paper is a pain. The diagram on the printer shows two people loading paper on the printer. The drawing is either not to scale or they had Hobbits pose for the artist. The roll of paper is as big as the people.

I am 6 ft and it is almost like exercise hoisting that roll of double weight glossy paper onto the printer. The average 5 ft tall female would have a real challenge doing it. The weight is one thing but you need the reach of over 60 inches to do it.
