So my nick name is Rick
my real name is Robert
My work shirt says Jack
The girl who wrote my expense check put both Robert and Rick on the check.
Today I roll into the bank driving a black ford with no tags on it, trying to cash a check written to someone I don't have I.D. for wearing a shirt with a completely different name on it. What could go wrong with this?
They never batted an eye.

OMG, that is good. around here, you'd be SOL.

my name is spelled darell. my driver's license says darrell. i couldn't get my check cashed, even though i had other forms of ID with the correct spelling. true story. i actually asked the manager if he was bovine. he looked at me like he was.

i was super resistant to direct deposit. i just liked the idea of having my check in hand, etc. irrational, really. i even went so far as to remind the CEO of the large hospital i worked at that withholding pay was illegal, as they threatened to do just that for those that didn't have direct deposit. my wife put up with depositing my check until about six years ago.

then i just kind of mellowed and have done the direct deposit thing since then. in retrospect, i really don't understand my previous hang-up.

The hang up is that in order to give them permission to make deposits you also authorize them to make withdraws.
I blacked that part out of the agreement on both copies and have it on record.

I love direct deposit, and electronic payments. My paycheck just appears in my account. My utility bills are paid on the day they are due not before and never late. They mail me a paper copy of the utility bill that says DO NOT PAY and I just grin and shred it.

Exactly glen. Plus with direct deposit I get my check on Thursday when payday is technically Friday. One more day it's drawing intrest in my account.

About the only paper checks I write are to renew tags or to the lady that cuts my hair.

i can't even remember the last check i wrote. i think it has been years. i know my wife pays a couple of the bills with checks, but i use cash (from my allowance) or the debit card (when i run out of cash from my allowance).
