That's actually not a bad idea for people in her condition... Then when they are found lost we would know who to call!

Yeah, there is GPS stuff she can wear. That's after she already got out of the house though.

Most of the Geriatric monitors are to tell if their routine changes to monitor health, not actual position monitoring like the WiTrack thing. A Senior living alone, their routine changes as their health deteriorates. They say typically about 2 week before a fall. These monitors are to determine if they need a live in or put in a care center.

She has a "Help I've fallen and can't get up" button thing, but she doesn't remember that she has it or how to work it.

There are new LED lights and appliances with Wink. Wink lets them talk to most all home automation software over wi-fi.

No doubt it would be a good idea for people with diminished mental capacity. It would be easy to tie in her name and address and Richard's phone number. Even better is the name of her doctor and a link to any medical instructions.

Our dog's chips identifies the name of the dog, (like that helps much) but most important our phone number and the vet's phone number. That provides proof the shots are up to date and a way to get the dogs back. Hopefully they are smart enough to stay home. Our last pair of dogs stayed home when some yard spray moron left the gate standing open for the day. He was fired for that.

You can also use something like a Wander Guard sensor to keep track of her and keep the doors locked as long as it is prudent to do. Tie it into the Redwood lights.

just finished make a "scooter" or hand cart for a plasma cutter. Going to cut a C15X50 (3/4" thick) for the length of about 120'. Should be fun to watch.

flipper35 07-10-2014 12:14 PM

Pics, vids?

Porsche-poor 07-10-2014 12:19 PM

None yet. The client has to approve the project then we will get started. It is a rectangular tub with four sides made out of the C15 welded to a 1" plate. The goal is to cut off the channel about 2" up and leave just enough to weld on some 5/8"" plate walls.

Morning y'all

Getting rid of last nights curry :(

RKDinOKC 07-10-2014 01:33 PM

There was a lady that lived down the street from our old house. Serveral years agp we got a call from a mental hospital in Enid Oklahoma. This lady had driven a car that far before she ran out of gas. When police approached she accused them of not being police and refused to give them her name or any information.

They put her in a mental hospital. Legally they could not go thru her purse to find any identification so she was there for a week before she gave them my Mom's name as someone they could call, and still not her own. They looked Mom's name up and called us. Mom had to go be a familiar face so she would identify herself so they would let her go. And she followed us back to her house in her car.

She never told us where she thought she was going.

She died a few years later. Her next door neighbor called us because it had been a few days since the lady came out and yelled at the next door neighbor as she was going from her car to her house when she got home from work. We called the police and they found she had passed.

She had also written a Manefesto. It accused "Them" of watching her thru the TV and selling the surveillance tapes on the internet for millions of dollar.

She once came to our house to tell us there were men on the utility pole behind her house installing wire taps when they were disconnecting her phone because she had stopped paying the bills.

Sometimes when she came to visit, She would seem completely normal and sane, then she would stop mid-sentence, not say another word and just leave.

Thank goodness Mom has not gotten the paranoia thing going. Probably because she is not living by herself.

No ice cream for desert?

Outback Porsche 07-10-2014 01:36 PM

Couldn't fit desert in. Not even a wafer thin mint.
