Glen, if I left this morning on a flight from Dulles I would get there this afternoon early evening, but I would have jumped the international date line, so a long time, it would be about 24 hours total travel time with stopovers changing planes etc. but about 20 hours air time with the skips across the usa included.

Okay we had a new baby last night in the extended family. My daughter in law's brother and his wife had a baby girl. They named it Sidney. Yeah I gotta ask, Sid, you add Va to your states I have been to list?

The Texas part is the worst. The speed limit is 75 so that helps. I have done that drive three times.

It is amazing how big the planet is even in the 21st century. Imagine that voyage just 100 years ago.

When I drove from OKC to Austin recently happened to notice I arrived just 6 minutes of when my GPS listed at the very start. Stopped once to top up the gas tank, take a potty break, and refill my refreshments.

yep, but then you have to get over to the other side of the USA, with a minimum of two hours delay on the flight change, but usually its more like 5 so you don't run into late arrival missed plane problems etc, and also if you can get a direct flight, not always possible. Usually stay in LSA for a few nights or Hawaii to skip across, breaks it up a bit.

Yeah, I also remember it being an all day adventure to get from SF to Ronaldd Reagan - about 11hrs.

Sidney, grab a packet of Jack Link BBQ Pork Jerky. Gnawing on some jerky does wonders if you get bored and the eye lids start getting heavy. There have been many a road trip where gnawing on jerky got me home because the sleepiness came from road boredom not lack of sleep.
