Well get to it! Gears are cheap and easy!

The truck I bought comes with two metal gear sets....one for crawling, with a ~16mph top speed and another with a ~25mph top speed.

There's a gear set pretty readily available that will get me much closer to 40 as well.....probably do that at some point, but metal axle housings will be first

There's a video in YouTube of some kid shooting at an RC airplane with an AR....

I know a lot of people technically violate the law, I've seen tons of large scale fighter RC planes with functional rockets.....I doubt the FAA would do anything about that.....they're just looking for the lunatics like me who want to attach an MP5 to a quadcopter...not that I would ever do that....

There is a video of someone that mounted paintball guns on a UAV. They flew through a slalom type course and could hit the targets with great accuracy. It terrifies all the government agencies and I can see sure why. How tough would it be to stop a UAV flying over a crowd at a political campaign speech and go right to the podium. Very.

When I was a kid, within 2 miles of my house was an RC hobby shop, a train shop (still there), a model rocket hobby shop, and two dime stores that all had all kinds of paints and plastic models like hobby lobby does now. Besides that there was a shop for women's crafts stuffs and two sewing stores. There was even a gun smith, cobbler, and a shop for just stereo hi-fi equipment. There was also a real drug store with a soda fountain. The bike shop was 3 miles away.

They almost all went out of business when the VCR and video tapes came out.

There are still a few hobby shops like the RC plane shop and the train shop still in business, but now they are being seriously threatened by the internets.

Aerial photos are popping up on the MLS now and you can tell they were shot with a quad. In fact one photo company is advertising this service. The pics look pretty cheesy to me!

The fish eye lenses on the cheaper drones make the pics look cheesy. That's why I was looking to see if anyone had something with a zoom lens yet.

Looks like the FAA is working on a certification to add to a commercial pilot's license for UAVs. But as of January 2014 only Secrutiy/Rescue services can get an exemption. Fine is $10,000 and 3 years in the pen.

Still looks like there are a LOT of business claiming you can hire them for UAV photography. Some even say they work with state, local, and FAA for UAV permission. But the current FAA web site says they are lying.

The UK has testing certification for both the pilot and the UAV to get licensed for UAV photography.

The owner of the local RC hobby shop is an FAA licensed UAV pilot and flys for the weather research program at Oklahoma University and the NOAA weather people. Technically they are doing research and not selling photos. He can still only fly VFR and during daylight hours. I think that's what he does on Mondays when his shop is closed.

Yea there are a couple of companies right here in the OKC in the back yard of the FAA with web sites promoting their drone services. From what we have heard the FAA is not really chasing after any of them. One would think the FAA would write a letter at least. Only if they catch them in the act will the FAA do anything.

In the end it is another federal agency with the efficiency and speed of the Post Office, IRS or the VA. All they are really efficient at is spending our tax dollars.

Even the web sites where companies have received letters, they are given quite a long period to stop before the hammer falls. One guy went for over a year between the call us letter and the official stop flying notice. It looks as if you stress that your companies number one goal is safety the FAA is okay with it. I just wouldn't want to be the one that got fined $10,000 and had to spend 3 years in a federal penitentiary.

You would think they way the government likes to spend money they would set up a whole agency just for certifying and monitoring UAVs. The UAVs used to fly the border patrol have beacons on them (if too small for radar) for the air traffic controllers and pilots are in touch with air traffic control just like manned aircraft.

Yea, the federal agencies are the example of how not to be efficient, but they have the biggest stick and punishments down pat.

We have a LONG list of rules we have to follow. We are still are not done with the annual inspection and engine replacement. I know our pilot does more than the minimum allowed by law. It is his butt in that airplane seat for several hundred hours every year so I fully understand.

I would think a modified 10/22 would be easier to adapt. Or the system from an FN P90 since they eject downwards and uses a remote trigger. Not that anyone here would think of such things. I bet it won't be long they will be trying to use armed quad copters for hogs in Texas.

Joe, you could develop a mini M134 that shoots .17 ammo to mount on your Predator drone you have been wanting to build. Or a paintball CO2 cartridge and a revolver canon shooting .177/.22 pellets. Nah, revolver canon timing issues would be tough to deal with. Go with multiple barrels.

We need to throw in some more key words and mention some groups that are not fond of pork or bacon and like that religion of peace.
