Ours was last flushed last summer.

Oh, for kicks dad di put cardboard over the radiator when they were done fixing the thermostat. Once it was 80% covered it started running warmer than normal if it was left at idle. The outlet on the heater core was still only slightly warm.

I haven't seen the detailed quote yet but I'd imagine It'll take at least half a days labor to un install the old unit and get the new one in.

When I last pulled my radiator off to do the engine swap I was thinking of having it boiled and cleaned at a shop. I looked down in there and even my mechanic friend said it looked pristine. I prefer it that way.

Phew, I am home after a busy day at work. I missed my nap time and recess!

The weather for most of December was imported from Seattle, WA or Rochester, NY. I don't think we had but a few days of any sun and most of that was still a partly cloudy day. We had several flights that we could not fly due to weather. Many of them were flown yesterday and I have to get them in the layout and to the customers. Easy enough to do just tedious and slow.

Yea, we get to 10 or so. Wind chill of -5 or so. At least it will be clear and no frozen stuff for a while.

Our forecast for tomorrow

"Yesterdays winds and cold temperatures were bad enough, but another sharp Arctic cold front will blast through early Wednesday, and this one is going to be even meaner.

From mid-morning through early afternoon, there will be snow showers and squalls. There could be a quick burst of 1-3" of accumulation, with blowing snow and reduced visibility.

After that front goes through, temperatures will plunge through the single digits during the afternoon. The actual air temperatures will bottom out between -10 and -25 by Thursday morning, and wind chills will make it feel like it is between -20 and -50! "

Sid, don't tell him about all the scantily clad coeds running around rockin' open carry firearms in the Vallley of the Sun, either.

Any advice on where to get a new carb for the bug, since pelican doesn't sell aircooled be parts! I've bought stuff from CIP but have never been impressed. Looks like the solex 30pict3 carb that's on the big is toast. It's leaking fuel around the shaft for the throttle butterfly. The butterfly is all rusty so it won't come out, and he rest of the carb is pretty sad too. Easier to just get a nice new one.

Decided to turn my wood lathe into a sudo metal lathe. I need to design prototype bushings without leaning on my client. Adapting my new to me boring bar and using it to for the outside of the bushing. The bottom picture is where I left off for the night. I'm hand holding the boring bar.

BTW, this is the prototype for the 924/944/968... This bushing should allow for a shift boot to be attached to it.

Two blokes @ $150 and hour for half a day soon adds up. I searched the webs today and got and approx price for a 300L unit at $4600, add the labour on to that and $6k is pretty close.

Seeing that it's just the two of us these days I'm thinking a 220L unit may be acceptable, and cut about $700 off the price.

what was interesting to discover was that the 220L unit comes with a higher gov rebate, about $350.
