Odd. We did not feel last night's earthquake at all. But maybe we "heard" it? Around the time that the earthquake hit, Mrs. Noah shushed us all to be quiet. She heard a high pitched ringing. Kinda like when you fill a goblet half full of water and start rubbing the rim with a moistened finger in a circular motion. It sounded like it was coming from a round, glass-topped torch lamp in the corner of our living room. We were in the kitchen. Did the glass lamp shade somehow resonate at the frequency of the seismic waves?

we don't have earthquakes back in Oz very often, but we did have one not long before coming over here to yankland. I woke up and was looking around trying to work out what the "F" was happening, then went back to sleep. Next day I told Hubby and the midgets and they told me to stop drinking before going to bed. I was vindicated by the news on the teev!!

I've heard of people reporting flashes of light when an earthquake hits, the explanation being that crystals like quartz become electrically charged when squeezed- piezoelectric effect. I suppose it is possible they emit a high-pitched frequency but I would think the dog would hear it more often/before any human would. I don't think you could get enough energy at the right frequency transmitted into a piece of glass to cause it to resonate audibly. Maybe she heard a distant siren or car alarm.

Cool.

And Jim, how long are you going to be CA?

Noah, Sidney and I are planning another trip out to SoCal. Sans kids... But many impromptu trips planned for weekend trip with the kids. Just to go to the beach. We will have to let you know. They would like hanging out.

A pelican friend, lfot, has a shelf with some bobble head dolls. I encouraged him to start a live feed bobble cam.

When we had the quake a couple of years ago it really scared the crap out of a lot of people here, after all it is the east where the people move and the ground stays still. My cats were freaked out.
I realize today I have been driving sports cars and trucks for too long. I had to do some work on the Mercedes, and that thing is like driving a hotel room. (Beth is a spoiled beiotch)

Mud season has arrived....... we hit 47* today.
This year is going to be interesting. Ellen measured 22" of snow (average) in the yard this morning ( that's after it rained yesterday and settled it). Going to be some sloppy going before things dry out around here.

Nice weather here. Next door neighbors have their cars pulled out and are playing ping pong with the garage door open.

Today we had chamber of commerce weather. 71 degrees and no wind. I "got" to mow the yard. The Bermuda grass has a lot of dead grass. I cut it lower just to pick up the dead grass and get some sun and heat on the roots.

Tomorrow is the autocross. My first one with the new engine.

OK, I am officially a little nervous.... Last night, about half the circuits in the house blinked out momentarily and there was a loud pop....I searched the house and found nothing so I dismissed it.....until it happened three times tonight....searched again, still nothing...

Uhhhh. I'd leave the main off and call your landlord... You've got something more wrong than just one outlet...

Everybody's into Fireball these days. That was big up in Washington last September.
