Morning Rick

No need, she's got me busier than a three legged dog trying to bury a bone on a vinyl floor covered in marbles

I too am very relieved that there has been minimal impact for her. I don't think I'll mind too much looking after my best mate for a bit longer.

Good Morning folks. We made it through Monday. Climbing the hill towards Hump day.

I watched a funny dark comedy last night. Shaun of the dead. Understanding the dialog with their heavy accent was a challenge and I had to back it up and replay a few scenes several times to understand. Sometimes I just gave up and went on.

I am glad I did not got to the theater and pay to see it but it was funny.

Simon Pegg is a great writer. If you haven't watched "Paul", you should.

"Hot Fuzz" is another of his movies that is very funny.

The day after I mowed my yard we had rain. I can hear the grass growing and getting greener.

This does not even show all of the front yard. I have about 1/5th of a mile of edging with the long sidewalk, curb, driveway and the back yard has a concrete sidewalk up against the house all the way around. I always like the looks of the house with a garage on the side of the house. It does not have garage doors as the focus of the front of the house.

That doesn't look like the Oklahoma I remember visiting.

It also reminds me to be glad I don't have much sidewalk. Just from the driveway to the front door.

It has stopped raining again so I guess I get to mow today. Playset is mostly assembled. I cannot fathom how they wrote the manual since the pictures are all screwed up and when they say get board AC you have to go to a chart that you have to find AC and look at the number and pull the board with the same last three digits as the big number. Why not stamp AC on the board?

Yea, when reading most instruction like that I always wish Charlie Griffith would write the instructions. His instructions for the AC upgrade are just fantastic and include every single step by step item. His Kuhel system works as advertised and the instructions make it easy.

Roundup will make permanent stripes and make it so you won't have to mow as much when you get back.

Not if you follow the mfr's recommended mixture.

Last week I had the worst experience w RU thus far. I usually over do it with the mixture and add a lot more concentrate than recommended...but that was when I had a third acre and no kid.

So, conservative me, gets a jug of concentrate, reads the mixing instructions (6oz/Gal) and head out to spray around the yard.

I sprayed everything from baby grass to established Poison Ivy...nothing was affected, NOTHING.

Back to the 10oz/Gal mixture.

I have almost a full gallon of real roundup from the 70's when it first came out. It is way more concentrated. Just 1/2 teaspoon per 2 gallon sprayer is too much and will kill anything. First time I mixed it up and sprayed the cracks in my sidewalk and drive it killed the stuff in the cracks and turned the yard to dirt for a foot out from where each crack met the yard. Now I mix it even weaker and spray much more sparingly. And it's NOT permanent, stuff starts growing back in a month. The label is so old it's unreadable, but there was a specific length of time and you could plant more stuff.

Back at our old house my Father-In-Law came over and sprayed the stump of an Elm tree that kept trying to grow. He used the stuff the power company uses at sub stations. Four years later I could not get anything to grow there. I had the stump ground out and removed several inches of soil and brought in new dirt and sod and that finally grew there. We sold the house right after that so I don't know for sure that fixed the problem.
