Oops, brain got in a hurry, wasn't awake yet, or just flat out not paying any attention.
Good Morning Group. Pepper gets to go to the dog wash today. Penny whined and yelped when I trimmed her toe nails. Camber trimmed her own toe nails. Pepper gets to go to the groomer for it. |
Argggh.
I hate stupid people.I get this phone call from a company that has the new girl secretary that must have failed junior high school to call and ask us to quote a job. She can't figure out her email so she sends a FAX! And the Fax is a portrait page reduced to fit on a landscape page. WTF? How did she manage that? The text is microscopic and blurry. I have to bring it into Photoshop and crop in just to be able to read it. It is obvious it was written by some other aerial photo company and they customized it to fit their equipment and we are never going to get the job, we will be the bid they can throw out and claim the job went out for bid and the favorite company just happened to have the right equipment and specs. It is a waste of our time to even bid on it. I can't email it back to Ms moron so I get to fax it back. |
Glen--send it snail mail.
\ Oh yeah,,people are idiots. |
Warning...
On the way to the dog wash and back I noticed the Morons are out in force today. |
Glen, reverse the image of your quote and fax it back so everything reads backwards on it.
I killed my land line phone. Just realized that means my fancy 3 in 1 Color Laser Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax is now a 2 in 1 without a phone line to fax with. I may actually send/receive a fax once a year so ain't no thang. |
Seems extra quiet at the house without the Pepper.

Some departments here it is a pre-requisite that you be stupid to be hired.

Speaking of stupid, it is me at the moment. Does anyone know why a spreadsheet would allow you to scroll sideways but not up and down. The cell number changes and the scroll bar on the side moves but the cells stay the same on the page. Sounds like a display issue except you can scroll left and right.

Saw a pickup truck while driving home from lunch. It didn't look like there was any visible damage, EXCEPT the rear wheels were tracking a full two tire widths to the right of the front wheels. There has got to be a story behind that!

Go to View, click Freeze Panes, then click Unfreeze Panes. See if that fixes it.

More stupid customers.
BEFORE we ever start the engine on the airplane we have to have a flight plan for the customer job. Not a FAA type flight plan, the data file that tells the camera when to fire. We set up a very specific area to fly that covers the area the customer wants and the exact altitude needed to get the resolution needed. If they say to include from road a to b and 1 to 2 that is what we fly. Don't come back AFTER the flight and ask for another mile to the west. We don't fly around shooting $20 per frame of film just for fun. We try hard to keep it at just enough to cover the area. It can be 1/4 of a square mile or it can be thousands of square miles. The image will cover ONLY what was asked for. It is like asking a wedding photographer if he shot any pictures of your pets that were at the kennel back home. |
Glen, all you have to do is fire up that time machine, go back in time to when the customer asks about the job. Then club him.

You is!
Now, I have this appliance at work that has to communicate with the outside world sometimes so I need to open the port in the firewall to allow it to get out. It chooses ports at random. WTH? I am not going to worry about it, it doesn't need out that badly. |
Usually firewalls are set to only block ports coming in and NOT going out, except for port 25. That way internal users and devices can initiate connections with the internets, but the internets can't initiate connections with internal computers. But yeah WTF it should start with a specific port (most use 80) then once the connection is established jump to whatever port. There are, of course, exceptions, like VNC, File Sharing, Server or Network management, etc.
Is there a way to force a port on the appliance like www.whatever.com:port? |
I wasn't really worried about it. The tech support guy asked about opening the port yesterday and when I asked which port he told me it picks different ones at random.
It is a Sophos unit with the web filter, spam filter and firewall in one unit. Not sure I like it, but it is nicer than the three separate units we had before. The Cisco unit was way undersized for our facility now and a pain to program. The Sophos unit defaults to everything locked, including country of origin, which is secure, but a pain. The VPN is nice, actually. |
I guess the big 20 inch rain fall we had back in May changed some river banks. I have had three calls for what historical images we have or different parts of the South Canadian river. It has to suck to see the river eat away the river bank and see your property vanish into the next county and become someone else's property. It is just strange how much a river bank can move with a big flooding event.

Evening Y'all,
I wish it was friday here, I am ready. It looks like out new cat is learning not to bite, I guess his head it starting t hurt from being whapped on it. My huge black cat exists for one reason, to roam the house at night in search of prey and if you get up in the middle of the night you will qualify, other then that my guys are all decent people. |
