As a kid my mom tried to make us eat fairly healthy but we were bottomless pits for food and were always on the move. I always loved Doritos and I remember as a kid I promised myself someday when I am an adult I would eat a bag of Doritos as a meal.
In the first year I had a week with a lot of overtime so I had more money to spend on food and I splurged and got a bag of Doritos and a 6 pack of beer. That was dinner. I never tried that again. |
The beer was bad.

During my hardest financial times I worked at a restaurant that gave $.50 per hour worked in restaurant money. Never went hungry. in fact, I funded several beer parties at the restaurant for friends and still had a bunch left after I gradiatimicated.

During college the wife (then girlfriend) and I ate at the .29 cent hamburger stand as a treat on Fridays.
|
Went out a few times with a chick in college that would get a soda at Del Rancho, a burger at Sonic, then Fries at McDonalds. They were all only 6 blocks from each other but I still thought it was kinda weird. I thought a happy meal once in a while was a treat and you got something to play with.

Hi guys. The boatyard here finally finished up the projects on my recently acquired sailboat and it's now sitting in its slip at the nearby marina.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1478827150.jpg The landscaping company just started demo in our back yard. And, we're bugging out Saturday for a few weeks in New Zealand. I must have been nuts thinking retirement would result in more leisure time! |
hey it floats
|
I'm not really into boats but that sure looks like a darn fine dingy Jim!
Glad you guys are enjoying retirement. |
Yeah, it's still floating...so far. Knock on wood!
|
Nice boat. Have fun on the other side of the world.

After all the election bull**** we've gone through, getting to the other side of the planet sounds perfect. Hell, if I could pull it off, I'd love to take an off-world vacation from this nutty planet. The Sirens of Titan are calling out to me! :D

There is supposed to be an extraterrestrial base on the dark side of the moon with 1500 residents.
There is also supposed to be an Earth base on Mars with 30,000 residents, including quite a few that were born there. Area 51 is actually a space port for an International Federation of space explorers including NASA. Think the guys pumping this stuff out have found that the conspiracy theory circuit makes more money than selling science fiction books. Isaac Asimov is supposed to be in their group. But he is not considered a credible source because he wrote the science fiction books. |
Asimov would be 97 now. Pretty sure he died in 1992.
|
Ah, so that's why they can say he was part of their federation, he isn't around to deny it.
|
We just finished watching a Netflix dvd "John Carter." I guess that's a documentary, Richard. ;)
|
The base on Mars is mostly Earth peoples. The federation has been doing space travel since the Roswell incident. Interestingly enough the base on the dark side of the moon is all extraterrestrials. The conspiracy part is our government is keeping this from us because they have made deals with the extraterrestrial to get most of the technology we have today in trade for letting them abduct people. Beyond that their "truths" start conflicting with themselves.

Those silly theories of aliens is no more stupid that the chemtrails, Lizard people eating babies, and that the dinosaurs helped build the pyramids.
10 Hilariously Stupid Conspiracy Theories (That People Actually Believe) – Page 2 Thay are all harmless until they hit the real idiot factor and some people thing they are real. Like Homeopathy, and the anti-vaccine groups. Those are causing real tangible harm to gullible people. Good Friday morning everyone. |
Bob is one of those people.
He got mad a both me and my brother Tom because we would not buy the plans and build a generator that makes electricity out of thin air. Even tried showing him where people posted that it was a scam and the guy that made the video showing a working one was thrown in jail for fraud. He says they are all working for the big energy companies to keep the technology a secret. He had also fallen for one of those Nigerian scams. He was upset that our fraud people wouldn't go prosecute the scammers even though they were in Nigeria. |
The company must be doing really well or laid off too many people.
They sent out a request yesterday for anyone not working in manufacturing to volunteer to work a couple of days a week in manufacturing instead of their normal jobs to be able to fill sales orders until they get more people hired. The last time they did this they had non-manufacturin people doing their normal job part time, and spending the rest of their time plus overtime working in manufacturing. A lot of people took them up on it because their normal positions weren't doing overtime. |
