There was no way they could entrap us for anything. We were on our private property flying a UAV over our private property. They have 100% of ZERO authority over any aircraft of any sort. Only the FAA have any real rules or regulations and the authority over an aircraft. We were not even flying for commercial purposes. Not a penny or anything of value was negotiated or changed hands. We were just big boys playing with big toys.

We have some interesting photos of the building that we own free and clear and have no intention of selling. Just more photos to store on one of the RAIDs.

So I have to ask. Are they using break away lanyards for the id tags?

I have no idea. I suspect they felt as threated as we did which was none. The lanyards did have OSBI all over them. Their office is a 60 second drive or 30 second walk away. I would have to guess they dress that way at work all the time.

I ask because we were told here it illegal to use ones that aren't breakaway. Those guys probably don't worry too much about it either way.

It is always good to have them informed of capabilities and satisfy their curiosity. Good way to make friends.

Back in the olden days when I was a news photographer we were often told to wear a coat and tie to some events. Governor Wallace was always holding press conferences and it was coat and tie dress code. One of the old timer photographers told me to never ever wear a real tie, always a clip on. He said you never know when some other low life out of town press member will grab you by the tie to move you so he can get a better angle.

I saw more than a few fights when the big network boys came to town and thought they were important and the locals were just peons. I saw a zillion dollar NBC video camera smashed on the steps of the Governor's Mansion when the network boys made a human barricade to get an "exclusive" for themselves. Wallace knew how to take care of the local guys and just rolled forward enough that the network guys had to back up. One of the local guys just by chance had a leg ready to trip the network camera man. He fell over backward and smashed the camera lens first. All the locals just stepped all over him and the sound man.

The network boys got nothing but a broken camera. My photos were picked up by UPI and used in lots of papers.

The friend I'm visiting in Austin was a press photographer in college at Baylor. He really learned to smooze his way into place he was not invited. When visiting if we hear of something interesting off we go and we've never NOT gotten in.

Went to a media developers trade show, tools for making movies, games, photos, software, training, all that stuff. We showed up the evening before the show while the companies were setting up. We walked around and he would drop names and asked questions. I had the show people show me how their stuff worked. They, of course, shot and used a picture of me. They liked it because it gave them the opportunity to test their booth setup.

The next day we walked right into the show because the door people recognized us. Didn't even ask for ID. Once in I noticed I got all kinds of stares from the show goers. Then I realized almost all the booths were still using my picture! It was hilarious, me everywhere! AND it got us into even more invitation only stuff because I somehow looked familiar. Ha ha ha.

Put some of those sticky mouse pads out for your cats to get into, that will make it a lot more entertaining. I had one in the lower kitchen cabinets. Cat got into it twice.

It was pretty funny hearing the clattering and banging in the kitchen cabinet then seeing the cat come bolting out and darting all over the house bumping into everything.

You may have noticed that you're all getting Aussie nicknames tonight...it's coz I'm slightly inebriated...

Shazza's fault...she fed me a glass of a really nice legopener (an aged Riesling from the Coonawarra district). Somehow the bottle is empty already?

Current conversation..

Her: You need a shower, I'm going to bed.
Me: I'll be there in 5 minutes
Her: I'll be asleep by then
Me: That's okay with me

Sometimes they say the funniest things...
