Their HR department must be half lawyers!

More of our Employees have put their pictures on Linked IN and Facebook than the Address Book.

Porsche-poor 02-15-2016 07:25 AM

possibly. Their timing sucks. I just turned in my passport for renewal. Having that would solve everything.

GH85Carrera 02-15-2016 07:52 AM

From what my wife tells me (the retired HR director) it is Federal LAW that any and all new hires MUST prove they are a citizen, and show the physical Social Security card. Since you are new to the new company they are required to start over with new everything.

It is just the feds doing the "paperwork reduction" and simplification bit.

The really stupid (only our federal government level of stupid) is you can't ask if someone is an illegal immigrant. If they hand in poorly forged documents you are supposed to accept them. Otherwise it might discriminate against illegals.

Porsche-poor 02-15-2016 08:15 AM

Richard hit on the head why can't you people just take the existing records and use them.

GH85Carrera 02-15-2016 08:42 AM

Because then the paper pushers can't justify their job. They have to do something to make it look like they did something important.

What is this thing you call "snow?"

Regards from Barcelona,

RKDinOKC 02-15-2016 09:02 AM

Don't eat that snow! It just looks way too close to yellow in that picture for me. Not that I make a diet of any sort of snow.

It would be a major hunt to find my SS Card. Do have my Mom's and Dad's as old as the cards are. Got a copy of my SS Card somewhere that the number is engraved on some kind of goldish looking metal card that does not show any corrosion my Dad gave me. I expect they wouldn't accept one of those though.

Porsche-poor 02-15-2016 09:18 AM

Birth-cert and drivers lic is all I got. Who knows maybe I'm and alien and don't know it.......

Now where is the cup to pee in?

GH85Carrera 02-15-2016 11:18 AM

I still have my original SS card stapled to the card that was handed to me back in 1967. I have never ever carried it or shown it to anyone that I remember. It is right next to my birth certificate and passport. As a military brat I used to know my dad's SS number since it was his ID number. I did not need that after I turned 21 so it has been a few years since I had to use it.

I have a metal fireproof box that I got when I was 21. I have some crap in there that will never been needed like the payment schedule to my dad for my first car. I made it up on a piece of paper and crossed of each payment until it was done. $50 bucks a month for a year. That was big money for me back then.

Afternoon all.

RKDinOKC 02-15-2016 11:40 AM

Was already identity theft paranoid when I first got my Drover's license. It as never been the same as my SS. Don't even think it is associated with my driver's license because the other night a policeman specifically asked for my SS because there was another Richard K Davis with the same birthday wanted for murder in Colorado. Seems like if it was in the system along with my license he would have seen it there.

My Windows 7 Pro has never asked me to or updated to 10.

Good no longer Monday day.

We watched a old movie the other night from 1973. Soylent Green. What a depressing and dark movie. Of course everyone remembers the big reveal at the end. It is set in the far distant of 2020, just 4 years away now

In the movie the population of NYC is 40 million. I think they miss that a bit. Only the super rick people have air conditioning and running water. They turned on a TV and it was an old box TV with mechanical knobs, no remote. No one had a cell phone, not even the cops.

I would rate it a 3.7 out of 10. It was better that the new Mad Max movie but mowing the grass or raking leaves is better than watching the new Mad Max.

Porsche-poor 02-16-2016 07:09 AM

Morning all.

With my allergies you go mow I'll watch the crappy movies.

GH85Carrera 02-16-2016 07:30 AM

I grew up with horrible allergies. Back in the days when antihistamines were prescription only and basically sleeping pills. I started on allergy shots long ago. After almost 30 years of weekly shots my allergies are 99% gone.

Check into a local allergy clinic and see what it costs to get on the shots. It will take a long time if your allergies are as bad as mine were.

Somewhere in some medical textbook on allergies is a photo of my back. When they first tested my allergies one of the worst was pecan tree pollen. They stuck the needle in and the doctor said "wow" just seconds later. The nurse said wow, and then the doc told the nurse to go get Dr. Smith or whatever his name really was and tell him to bring the camera. The other doc showed up and said wow, and started taking pictures of my back. About a minute later they decided to give me a shot of what was likely an antihistamine and said they would have to redo the tests again next week.

They said my reaction to the pecan pollen was a "classic extreme reaction" to allergen.

Porsche-poor 02-16-2016 07:36 AM

That's nuts! Pun intended.
