Yup glen once she got to the point she didn't know who she was, what's the point? Thuy and I have talked, once we start getting old we want to move somewhere that assisted suicide is legal and get all the paperwork in order. No way I'd want to live like that!
Cool about the cars. I'd love to drive a GT4. Think that's the modern Porshe that has my interest the most. The 991 is fast but the GT4 seems to get rave reviews! |

Looks like the plan for grandma is no funeral. She is the last of her siblings, doesn't have much family. My dad and his sisters and us will all go to NM this summer to her favorite spot in the mountains where my grandpas ashes are scattered and scatter hers as well.

Mom had a medical directive that if she ever got to where she didn't know anyone to put her in a home and forget about her. Me taking care of her and keeping everything like she had it before the dementia helped so that never happened for her. Had to really fight my siblings to keep them from getting rid of her stuff while she was still around. They just didn't understand the impact her surroundings had. The last six months had to help her to remember how to swallow food as she chewed it up. Interesting that she never had a problem swallowing chocolate chip cookies and had her drinking lots of Ensure.
The reason I have Pepper is the immediate negative effect Camber passing had on her. Having Pepper really perked Mom up and made her more aware.

Sorry Sid.
My wife's Grandmother got really bad near the end. Just sad seeing a person that was so full of pi$$ and vinegar reduced to toddler like behavior. She is the only one of my wife's family that rode in the 911. I was being careful and she said "ain't this thing got any balls?".. I then took her through a few quick turns and she had a big smile. This was way before she got sick.

When I bought the Passat Mom rode with us when the salesman took us for a test drive. He drifted a clover leaf ramp. He looked to the back seat and asked Mom what she thought of that. She calmly and matter of factly said, "Richard does that a lot smoother in is Porsche." The salesman looked very surprised.

Our male dog just got another mouse. No disposal needed by me. He figured it was a tasty snack. I am happy it is one less mouse around here.

Yeouch, now you know how concrete and steel can burn.
That reminds me I need to pick up a fireproof/waterproof external drive to back up my stuff. Wonder if I should get battery backups that gracefully shut things down, or last long enough to cover the typical power brown out. Eye Update: Still hurts, is red, and blurry, BUT brighter with no vitreous hemorrhage floaters or cob webs. Have reached pain killer saturation (where I can't sleep).

Buildings that burned were wood framed. Wood is legal to build with out here if it has sprinkler systems. But theses were still bare studs, sprinklers hadn't been put in yet, no Sheetrock to slow the fire. Just a bunch of giant wood piles waiting to burn fueled by wind!

Kimray (the company I work for) bought the old Hoiday Inn and repurposed it as a training center for a ministry my brother was involved in. Because some staff would be living there full time (staying for longer than one month) the buildings residency was changed and the fire systems and escapes had to be upgraded to meet stricter codes. I got to manage that, do all the drawings and get everything approved.
When researching and getting the systems and drawings approved was told by almost everyone I came into contact with having to do with the fire safety that the stricter residency code was BS and to simply take the fire marshal for a car ride. Then with the windows up ask what it would take to get the building to meet code. Said I would be told where do deposit how much to get it to pass as is. Tired meeting with the city council and get a variance, but that was a waste of time. Understand if we would have followed the instructions above, the fire marshals would have helped get a variance past the city council instead of vehemently opposing our request. So, we opted to actually bring the building up to full time residency code even thought it was very expensive to re-sprinkle the entire building and add 2 fire escapes. Later Kimray sold the building to Hobby Lobby who gave it to the ministry using it for a tax break. The tax break was higher for Hobby Lobby than Kimray.

The OKC Memorial Marathon was this weekend. I did all the artwork, designs, website, ads etc for the first 4 years of the Marathon. My two nephews and one of their friends were the founders.

Sharyns olds arrived today, it's good to see them again. Her mum is looking old this year and loosing mobility quickly - hips and knees are giving her grief. She had a knee replaced a couple of years ago and I think a hip is not far away. I'm not sure if she'll go through with it though, as the knee replacement didn't go well for her.

Good morning all.
Sid, they had a massive fire like that one her in Edmond a few years back. It was the same deal, a large apartment building that was framed in wood and then proof, just ashes. The scraped it off and started over. It is one of the many areas I am glad I never had to live in or near. Just thousands of apartments next to other large complexes. There must be a need for them but I am glad they are not right around my house. Jeff, when I had my hip replaced the doc told me to be happy it was not a knee as a hip replacement is something that is easier to recover from than a knee.

Good Mornin
Mom needed a knee replacement for arthritis, but they told me if they would have put her under with dementia she would have woken up blank. So we used a lot of different pain killers, patches. and physical therapy. Remember a multi-million dollar house was being constructed and was about to be furnished when it burned to the ground. They rebuilt it exactly the same except they moved the house back on the property by 4 feet. They claimed there was saw dust in the heating ducts that started it.

While we were in Enid at the MIL's house we set up her TV box and got her Apple TV updated. She has a son that lives in Enid, two grandsons, and 5 great grandsons that all have iPhones and are connected in the 21st century. Not one of them could figure out the simple task of getting her TV configured to let her watch movies or TV shows from her Amazon Prime account.
I told her to tell her 17 year old great-grandson that an old geezer like did in in short order. My wife typed up the directions and it is on her iPad. So the 83 year old great granny can do things none of the whippersnappers can figure out.
