Hey, isn't that guy Al? Al Fresco?

Hola, y'all. It's primary Election Day here in CA. Time to make a number of ill-informed choices!

Oh boy, I have to learn the solo, or an abridged version of Pink Floyd's "Money" by tonight and have it memorized.

Rick probably knows it but isn't very lose. Actually, none of you all are very close.

Noooooooo, All our company emails must now include a signature, i.e. a copy of the company logo, your name, title, address, phone, direct phone, company web site link, company facebook link, company blog link, link to sign up for company monthy newsletter.

Can understand if you are in sales and are communicating with customers, but for internal emails, and people that only contact vendors? WTF? What a waste of bandwidth.

And how many engineers/buyers for oil & gas production are getting their product information from facebook anyway?

Oh and the brilliant marketing department set a pdf with 2 different signature designs you can use. IF YOU COULD COPY AND PASTE FROM A LOCKED PDF!!

They adopted that here a while ago. I don't mind a text signature but the graphic on the bottom is, as you say, a waste.

I told them they should make sure the replies are setup with a text signature so they don't have an email in a long thread bounced because of size.

Richard, at least our marketing person send an editable and usable sig image.

With all those links I am surprised they don't get flagged as spam often.

One of my regular customers has a signature like that. It is huge. After about 8 or 10 replies on the email thread it becomes really long.

I have another friend that had a one man business. He was it. His email signature was just crazy long and complex. I built a signature of my own to reply to his email and added links to all sorts of crap. I made up several titles and it filled a page.

He kinds got the point. Just put your phone number and web page. If they want to know more, they can find it on our web page.

Glen, you forgot the most important part! All signatures need to have the email address linked there.

Yep, there is no way you know a persons email address from the email they just sent you.
And yes, with all the links emails will most likely get lost to spam filters.
The Newsletter they send out does, even on our own system and our users Outlook spam filter.

Think a signature is fine for INITIAL emails to CUSTOMERS. If anything so you can quickly go to the first of a conversation a get their phone number or web address.

but should be text only and

Name
Title
www.companyname.com
Street
City, State Zip
Direct Phone

Honestly think the address is optional, but most business people expect it.
And kill it on replies. If they sent you an email, they already know who you are.

Just got a IT help ticket email. The person emailed the request. Their signature takes up more space than the actual help ticket!

Morning all

Awake at sparrow fart and thought I'd catch up with the thread. I've been too busy with working and sleeping to do anything else at the moment, and there's a glimpse of light at the end of that tunnel but it's still three weeks away.

I'm a minimalist with my email sig; name, company, direct phone number, and it'll only go on the first email I send.

If you get an email from me and you want to send one back then just hit reply. And if you converse with me then you'll quickly figure out what I do. And if you need to send me something you'll ask for a shipping address, and I'll ask by what method, then I'll tell you the correct address based on your reply.

Once upon a time it was all on display in the sig but after a few emails where the sig was longer than the content, it just looked like a silly wanker.

Too many marketing people that do not use email and don't have enough to do.

One day we'll send all those overheads types off to another planet with the telephone sanitizers.

First round of cabinet removal started today. We took trailer loads to my FIL's for safe keeping. We'll probably have 2 more tomorrow. The lady gave my FIL the stacked ovens, dishwasher, and the downdraft countertop stove.

She was just going to scrap them and we don't have enough room for them without MAJOR renovation.

No injuries except for the guy I am working with doesn't like to cut power when removing boxes. He got quite the shock when cutting a wire whilst telling me "if you cut them one at a time, it's not a problem". Uh, yeah right.

Fortunately, the gas line right by it was already closed.

Howdy Jeff.

I am doing two weeks of retirement practice starting Saturday. I am gonna go drive about 5,000 miles. Hopefully very limited or no dirt roads!

Just keep thinking of your upcoming vacation and keep your head down at work.

I just received an email from a potential vendor.

It has:

His name
Company address
Company State and Zip
Office number
cell phone number
email address
web page
facebook link
twitter link
Large company logo

Catchphrase about doing business together.

Gee I wish I knew his FAX number as well.

I was an electrician for a while before becoming an engineer. I always cut power before working on any circuit. The guy you're working with is trying out for the Darwin Award.

G'day Glen,

It looks like work is gunna follow me into the desert - I'll be taking a work sat phone apparently.

Got an email from the event organisers last week, over 6000 people are gathering in the desert for the concert (Big Red Bash).

You trip looks like it'd be a good'un too.
