OK, that is better.

Hey, what happened to the extraterrestrials landing on Tuesday and the election getting canceled? Maybe they did land and Trump is an extraterrestrial.

We get at least one phone call per day from different companies wanting to save us a lot of money by switching to their credit card reading equipment. Most of the time we tell them credit cards are evil and we deal in pig, chickens or goats only. Today I decided to change it up. I told them we do credit card processing and we can save them money on our system. The bastage hung up on me.

Well happy birthday!

We used to get calls all the time about our business phones from the company that is providing the service. I would always tell them that is great and when they asked who we had now I would tell them they are our current provider. The conversation usually soured after that.

Still short weather here, other than the frost yesterday. I don't get to wear shorts here though. :(

Porsche-poor 11-10-2016 10:35 AM

every morning I get up to a car covered in dew and by the afternoon walk to lunch it is 75 out.

Yesterday I got a phone call on my cell phone claiming to be from USAA. That is where I have some of my investments and credit card. They wanted to review my file. I asked for their extension number. I told them I will not discuss anything about my finances with someone that calls me out of the blue. I will call the main number and get them on the extension. I have done that when it was a legit phone call. She just hung up. I reported it to their abuse department.

Porsche-poor 11-10-2016 10:49 AM

The last one of those types of calls came while I was at the gun range. I told her I was little busy at the moment but hang on I'll get right to her. Then proceeded to fire a few rounds. She hung up wonder why?

Ah ha ha...The Wheel of Fortune is on the TV in the other room. The volume is not very loud.
While typing this one of the contestants solved a puzzle and I swear I heard him say "The poop is in the pudding"

Glad I haven't had any pudding and now certainly don't want any pudding.

Well, we all know you can't have any pudding unless you eat your meat!

Badoom chish!

Dark side of the drum kit?

Brother Bob got his phone turned back on yesterday. Says he needs to come up with another $57 in two weeks or it gets turned off again. So I assume he is paying $57 a month an still has an old out of date flip phone. Anyway, He doesn't call and talk he only does the text thing. And it's not a smart phone so he texts using the 10 key number pad.

Asked him about the extraterrestrial invasion stopping the elections and he kept saying only that text was blank. Should have told him "They" were monitoring and censoring his text messages!

Said the same thing about my attempts to tell him about brother Tom going in today to get a plate screwed onto his fibula.

Bob always says the texts are blank when it's something he doesn't like or doesn't want to talk about. Sent the same info in smaller texts and then he said his phone was messing up because it needed charging and he was turning it off and quit answering my texts.

Somethin' like that.

The FF called me today to advise that he will drop off our burn permit tomorrow.

Well, the burger place was good but not "Unbelieveable" to me. Almost $20 for 2 of us. Course the wife got a soft drunk AND a chocolate shake. ;)

GH85Carrera 11-10-2016 12:18 PM

$10 bucks per meal is not expensive anymore. It is rare my wife and I can eat anywhere for under 20 bucks. Of course Sam's is the cheapest. We can eat foe $3.25 and leave full. Two adults and $1.62 each (OK one of them is $1.63) is super cheap. I am not sure if Ramen noodles is much cheaper.

Noah930 11-10-2016 12:40 PM

I just had 2 hot dogs and a soda at IKEA for $2.

RKDinOKC 11-10-2016 12:46 PM

Got 6 personal frozen pizzas for $.72 each, one is enough for a meal for me. And a 6 pack of 17 oz Cokes for $2.64, that's $.44 each. So got me 6 meals for $1.16 each. Every once in a while I like frozen pizza.

My brother George used to really like that Carl Budding sandwich meat stuff. He would only eat 2 slices of bread, some mustard and just one slice of that Carl budding meat you get like 12 slices for $.89. Now THAT was really cheap. Not sure you can even spread 2 tablespoons of peanut butter on a couple of slices of bread for that.

Funny how guys that own Porsches are talking about how cheaply they can eat.

If only the outsiders knew that we were talking about this. :D

My wife and I haven't been out to any meal together in a very long time. Yes, it was strange not having the kids with us.

Porsche-poor 11-10-2016 12:57 PM

Just spent $11 on two slices of pizza, a salad and a soda at the plant cafe.

Back when I first moved to OKC and was desperately broke, I ate cheaply or not at all.

I spent all my available money on the move and put some on credit cards to get here. New utilities and the like had me down to dead broke. My apartment was a real POS and was $90 per month furnished.

I ate a lot of rice. Not Uncle Ben's fluffy stuff, I went for the Asian real gummy rice and some Kikkoman soy sauce. It was about less than a nickle per meal. Payday was Friday and I would splurge and put a can of soup on the rice.

It did not take but a year to save enough to move into a much better place with a roommate. One year later I bought my house. I still ate a lot of cheap meals. One of my favorites was a whole chicken. I would throw out the bag of crap stuffed inside the bird. Cut in half, 20 minutes on the grill, rotate, 20 minutes, rotate 20 minutes and then eat. Two meals cooked for cheap.

I have been really broke and I hated it. I have never taken one cent of government assistance of any kind, ever.

RememBer when in HS there was a pizza joint that had a slice of pizza and a soda for $1. And it was one of those HUGE pizzas where the slice was bigger than a plate. Bigger than my $.72 personal frozen pizza and had a lot more topping and cheese on it too.

Also remember $.20 chili cheese coneys on Tuesdays at A&W.

Porsche-poor 11-10-2016 01:20 PM

Back to being bored.

After my divorce I took a promotion and moved to a new town. I was single and had a 1 bedroom apartment. Even though I worked for a vending company I didn't take any food home.

My go to meal was hamburger with ketchup and mustard. Sometimes I would make some biscuits and just have jelly on them.

RKDinOKC 11-10-2016 01:26 PM

When I worked nights a friend an I went an stood in line for the 1st showing in OKC of The Wrath of Kahn. We were about 10th in line. The local TV station came buy and were asking people about what they thought about the movie. When they go to me I looked at him real shocked, said, "Movie? I thought this was the line for the free government cheese!" and stormed off. The people in line thought it was so funny my friend an I got to move to the front of the line.

Years later that same friend went to visit his kids in Colorado. He got caught in a blizzard driving home and had to spend the night in a gym on a cot. Would have liked to see that he weighed about 400 lbs. Anyway, the next morning he was waiting in a line of cars on a highway ramp for the snow plows to come by. A Denver TV crew came buy and were interviewing those in line. He pulled my line and said. "Get on the highway, I thought this was the line for the free government cheese." And acted like he was trying to pull out of line and turn around. The interviewer got so tickled he slipped and fell flat on his a55 then the camera man fell too. It made it on the news in more than just Denver. Told me he made big points with his kids when they saw it.
