Okay, so another interested local buyer for the Cayenne called this evening. They went 100 miles today to look at a newer Cayenne for sale for only a little more than mine. Said it had some issues they were not happy about. And it had some things done to it nobody should ever do to a Porsche.

Told them I gave my word that I would sell the car to someone else and told him he did not need to give me a downpayment because I am a man of my word. Told them he is supposed to do a bank transfer Tuesday when the banks open and I have no reason to think any different.

They still wanted to come look at my car. Told them they could come look at it, BUT that was it. Since it was spoken for I would not feel right letting them drive it or even giving them a ride in it. But I would be happy to call them Tuesday if the bank transfer did not happen. Said they would call me tomorrow and come by.

My guess is they think I will sell them the car if they wave cash under my nose. They are sadly mistaken if they think that. I would not put a buyer in the same position I was put in by that guy in California. It's called Ethics, a verbal contract, and me being a man of my word. Now if they wave enough more cash under my nose I would definitely call the buyer and offer to split the difference with him!

Sounds right Richard. The only car I ever sold to an individual was my 914 back in 1995. I talked to him on the phone and he called back and asked how to spell my name. He had a cashiers check drawn up on my same credit union. He had never see the car and had no idea how to drive one.
My brother knew a guy that offered me $100 more for my 60 VW Bug than I paid for it that was my first car. I traded in my 73 Bug to the dealer when I bought my 914.

We are getting a very light drizzle at most so far. Once again California sucked all the water out of the storm and they did not even want it.

Yesterday I ordered a new fan switch for my El Camino. I even pointed to what looked about right on the computer. I went to pick it up and it was not even close. It was a part I had never seen before and I know most every part on my car. They will try again Tuesday.

On my first car, the 68 Ford station wagon, it had one of those rings hanging from the steering wheels to operate the horn. It broke off. I installed a 2 inch diameter RED button on the dash. Didn't use it much, but thought it was great.

So, looking at the cord cutting options. Looks like I can get all the channels I watch on Cox Cable using Direct TV Now. Cox is $121.50/mo. To get the same channels on Direct TV Now is $80/mo. If I pay for 3 months I get a NEW $150 AppleTV free. But I would have to get an indoor antenna for local channels though honestly don't watch them very often. None of the other services had all the channels I watch now.

Just great Sony has decided to kill the Sony video rentals on my Sony Bravia TV. 3 days ago! The Bustards

It was typically $1.00 cheaper per on-demand video rental than AppleTV or Cox On-demand.

Cars are all spiffed up, driveway is clear of frikkin' pine needles, and the garage floor is clean. I even did a quick detail on a neighbor's car. She is the sister of the lady whose garage I organized.

I bought a couple of ribeyes for grilling today. Man, they turned out just perfect. Daughter even commented that hers was better than what she gets at our favorite tavern. Yay for Dad!

Smoked a steak in SRG the other day. Judged the roasting time in the smoker (just below rare), with the time on the grill to put lines on it (1 minute per side) just perfect (med rare). It was super tender and juicy, but way too smokey. The total cooking time was 20 minutes. Next time will put the chips in the same time I put the meat in instead of waiting for the chips to start smoking before putting the meat in. Or maybe gill the lines on it while the chips are heating up to smoke. Not sure how that all works yet.

Sure have been enjoying delicious juicy burgers. Haven't tried Bacon Cheeseburgers yet.

Good Monday morning all.

I saw that Parade registration opens tomorrow ant 12:00 EST. Richard, no lunch tomorrow, I will registering for Parade. Maybe if it goes fast we can still do a late lunch.

Wayne, I rarely if ever order a steak at a restaurant. The one exception is a slab of prime rib. Prime rib is a challenge to do at home. I can grill a steak way better at home. So many places want to salt the hell out of it or not get it cooked right or put some horrible "special house seasoning" on it. It is just too easy to cook a steak on the grill.

I was looking at the little refrigerator in my garage and notices a glacier had formed on the inside. I keep it at max cold because it is just me beer fridge. I hit the ice blob with my heat gun. Within 5 minutes it had softened enough to pop it off. It was bigger than my hand and 2 inches thick. It was a big ol blob of ice.

Company I work for is auctioning off some club cab pickups and transits all red with grey interior. This week. Pickups have 220K - 250K miles, transits under 40K. It's a closed bid auction, let me know if you are interested. All the company logos have been removed, a couple of the trucks have tool boxes.

I am not a pickup guy and don't need a weird looking mini-van.

It was so nice outside this weekend we cleaned the garage. Took the boy out to fly the R?C Corsair so he can get good enough to fly his bomber. Saturday morning he started watching a bird or something instead of the plane. Sunday was much better. He was doing figure eights and the only "problem" he had was getting too high. I also found out it doesn't like to fly inverted very well. Even on high rates. Almost crashed the thing. It also glides like a glider making it hard to judge the landing. You have to pull the throttle off way earlier than you think you should and it still comes in pretty hot. It really could use some flaps.

Did some hiking yesterday as well. It is a bit mushy out there. Going to try to get up to the EAA museum sometime in the next few weeks. There isn't time to visit it during AirVenture.

Taught my Nephew to fly R/C. First I made him build a trainer himself, gave him tips and talked him through things, but HE built it. He couldn't even build a plastic car model when he started. Did that so he would be invested in it and try to NOT crash it. He didn't try to take care of things very well and had the attitude of "Just buy another one."

Had have one of the other guys in the club teach him to fly. On his first flight, he wouldn't listen to me and instead kept doing his own thing. Didn't have a trainer cord so I had to take the radio away from him several times to save the plane and he would try to play keep away with the radio. Found someone else to be his instructor. Listened to the other guy just fine.

And like me, after he started flying solo had a couple of impromptu plane to ground interactions he had to repair. He thought I would repair it for him. After doing the repairs himself it sure made him much more careful and pay more attention when flying. It was difficult to get him over that silver spoon attitude.

I understand the the younger generation pick things up much quicker thanks to video games, but there is nothing like a trainer to cut their teeth on because trainers fly slower, are easier to fly and especially easier to land (low stall speed), and are easier to repair when you do crack up. The newer electronic nannies are nice except where it comes down to bringing that sucker in slow enough you can react without stalling.

Besides, my trainer looked really cool!

Ours is a trainer but he isn't allowed to land it yet. It does have the panic button to recover the plane so I don't have to take the radio from him. I hand launch and belly land it in the drain field across the road from our house. The grass is too tall for the gear.

Personally think the Nanny Technology and tail dragger takes away from the real learning process.
Landing is really the most important thing to learn.

Would also go to a maintained club flying field with a grass strip so could learn to take off and land.
Even though around here it is a 20 to 30 mile drive for a nicely maintained grass flying field.
Not until very confident would I park fly. Probably part of that built the plane thing.

I soloed on my 9th flight the first time I took my trainer to the field. Similar with the nephew.
The only real difference was I got to sit and enjoy a cold beer between flights to help calm my nerves.

Flew thru a barbed wire fence near the field on my 11th flight.
Put a little barbed wire graphic like a kill on the side of my trainer.

But hey, I'm old school.

Keep in mind he is 7 year sold. His bomber has no nanny tech other than the 3 axis gyro which would be nice on a lightweight 24" wingspan bomber on gustier days.

Not having anyone near to train makes the panic button handy. The nanny tech doesn't make it crash proof as looking at the beat up cowl will attest to, but it does help with over controlling and orientation. He paid for the bomber with his own money so he is practicing on this so he can fly the bomber with less chance of a royal screw up.

Think of it as the same as a tether to another transmitter that has an experienced pilot to recover when you screw up.

Understand the SAFE stuff, have it on a heli, not that it helps much on a small heli indoors.
Also it was one of the first versions of the safe stuff (not real good).

If my eyes were better I would get my heli's all fixed up and do some flying.
Got all the parts. Guess I need to get one of those big old people magbafrying desk lamp things.
That heli stuff is little bitty teeny tiny. And all my heli's need something fixed.

Pretty days like today makes me want to fix my 120SR outdoor heli.
120 is the mm diameter of the main rotor.
They have a new one that has the SAFE stuff and no flybar.
Would like to trade my 120 for the new one that is flybarless. It's a whole $150 with radio.
The flybar is how they added stability without the computer stuff, but also induces some unwanted motion to overcome the flybar.

When I first got into R/C I got an R/C Flight simulator program.
It was a PC DOS program. It was after Windows where you had to emulate DOS to run it.
I emulated a Windows PC on my Mac that emulated DOS to emulate flying an R/C plane, that emulates remotely flying a real plane...It even had an RS-232 controller that emulated a R/C radio.

Way geeky cool.
