I really like what the Monkeys did with the El Camino although I would have installed a cowl induction hood.

I saw my DVD recorded the second part of the show. I will watch it soon. One thing they were saying in the show is the El Camino was built on a station wagon frame. That is not totally accurate. THe El Camino frame is a different part number from the station wagon. The Elky frame is longer. On the forum El Camino Central they had a long thread on it. One member was trying to rebuild his frame and had a nice station wagon frame. It was not easy project since he had to modify it a lot.

I do love the fact that the put the same heat and air system in the Elky and the station wagon. In the tiny two seat cabin the AC kicks butt. It would suck in the station wagon giant interior. My drive home is just 8 miles and 12 minutes. I can leave here on a 100+ degree day and be getting cold enough that I have to turn the AC down before I get home.

Sounds like the AC on my 914. Driving down the highway in August, it was 106°F out. Had the AC on it's warmest temp setting and the lowest fan setting. It still got so cold in the 914 was shivering and had to turn it off and open the windows. Wish the heater in that thing worked half a good as the AC. It kept burning up fan motors. After the 3rd fan motor it burned the wires from the fuse box to the fan motor, the fan motor, and wiring going to fan switch and the fan switch. I gave up. If you just opened the door to the heat boxes on the exhaust the engine cooling fan would push a little air to the cabin, but it would take about 30 minutes to get warm enough to defrost the windows.

There's a mid 80s wagon around here that is street raced, so I hear anyway. It's got a huuuuuuge block Chevy and a lot of Nitrous. He had it in our town for a car show last year.

The car I bought after the Corvair became disabled was a 78 Malibu. It had the horrible 305 V8 but it was nearly perfect. That was in 1985 so it was only 7 years old. Totalled it Christmas Eve that year when a guy turned left in front of me. Instead of tboning his door I swerved and we collided side to side. My Dad was the insurance adjuster so I got almost what I paid for it.

You just needed a relay for the fan motor. The heater in my 914 worked great. The heat exchangers are 4 feet long. I added a second fan to the passenger side to really make it blow hot. I drove around in cold weather with the roof off and the plastic heater vents dang near melted. They were deformed a little after one long trip.

Every summer I wished I had ordered AC and every autocross and winter I was happy I did not. It REALLY sucked in the bad old days when I shot weddings. To show up in a coat and tie in 100 degree weather and then work HARD at shooting a wedding sweated out a lot of clothes. Golly I miss that.

I didn't know what I was doing and apparently the shop I used didn't either. Still enjoyed the heck out of that little car.



Only sold it because I couldn't fit a date and my Golden Retriever in the 914 at the same time without the Golden sitting on the floor in front of the date. between the date's legs and face to face with the date. Was a little too uncomfortably intimate for most womens. Sometimes it was just too tuff to choose between the dog and the date.

Let my beard grow out when I had the 914, but only about 3 inches not years. Still looked like a wild man though.

Morning all. Yesterday was a snow day. Stayed home and shoveled out the drive way. Today I'm at work wishing for more snow.

Not that I worry much where we live, but with going to the range, hunting, airsoft (falling out of a tree can give you a nasty puncture wound) plus being one of the first on scene at accidents a few times I figured it would be a good idea to have a good kit.

I have seen the SOFTT-W kits and have seen the courses from sobtactical.com but they are way out in PA. Haven't found anything close to Dubuque IA yet other than EMT/EMS.

By the way, I found a Durango to replace our current one. Even has higher towing capacity.

No rain or snow in the forecast. We got two days of moisture and a .01 of rain two days in a row. No flooding.

Wow, a new record for us. We have a DWG file that is a point cloud with 1.2 BILLION points. Every single point has a x,y and z value as well as a RGB value. If you look at the entire file it looks like a photograph. As you "zoom" in the individual points show up. It is just what the customer ordered and I hope they have a powerful computer to use that file.

It is over 50 gig as a DWG file.

Well...Could NOT get in touch with the HR Director about the phone stuff. My direct boss said he would see what she said and then a day later just said he couldn't talk to her.

They are being unnecessarily mum on this issue.

Told them I have lost all optimism of the company doing anything that would save me a couple hundred bucks upgrading my phone before transferring my account and am just going to tranfer my account and try to forget how I was treated.

The first option they give is to go to a local Verizon store.
If you do that they treat you like a new customer bringing your own phone.
$40 for the line and $35 for data, $75/mo

If you call the transfer number they transfer you to a business rep.
The rep "transfers the responsibility" of the account to you.
$20 for the line and $35 for data, $55/mo. Same as the company cell phone allowance.

I called and transferred the responsibility to a personal account in my name.

Got a different business rep and that rep also told me same as ; I would get a huge discount on upgrading my phone if I could make a new contract before transferring. That's the issue I can get no answer on. Was told by both it would not cost the company one cent either.

There must be some employees that are getting pissed off because they went to the local store and found they were going to have to pay $25 more per month for a company provided phone. They have been turning them in bricked. The phone is remotely erased like it was stolen. It requires the Apple ID and password it was setup with to unlock it.

Too bad they won't let us upgrade the phone before the transfer. A 128GB 7 plus for $300 is less than half price at $850. Again does not really make me want to try save the company any money.

The dark angel guys do courses all over the country and their lead instructor was an SF medic.

One of my friends had a cabin at a lake over in Arkansas. Some of the houses in that area were right out of Deliverance. His neighbors trapped possums and coons for food. My friend said his dad bought the cabin they had on the lake and lived there for 30 years and all the neighbors call him the new guy.
