Problem at work is 24% of the users are likely to click on it.

Porsche-poor 05-15-2017 02:39 PM

Don't understand why the server guy is waiting until wednesday night to update the servers. Should have done that this weekend!

Porsche-poor 05-15-2017 03:08 PM

Salaried? not getting paid to work the weekend?

They just shot themselves in the foot here last week. They rolled out this new thing called intune or intone or something like that. Its now required to download and install on your personal phone in order to keep getting company email on it. Well of few of the more paranoid types here read the fine print that says by agreeing to install this you agree to let the system admin wipe your phone if needed or at termination. No one will install it now.

RKDinOKC 05-15-2017 03:21 PM

It's called Intune, or Mobile Device Management, MDM. Those paranoid types need to understand that without Intune just because they have an email account Admins can already wipe their entire phone. MDM adds a profile to the phone that allows Admins to wipe only the company data instead of the whole phone.

Seems like people would be much more agreeable if they new it added the option to just wipe the company data instead of the whole phone.

I set it up and tried it on my iPhone. It was pretty neat. It wiped just my company email account, VPN, Office Apps, and One drive files. Just the company stuff. Nothing personal was touched. Then I okayed the device again. Then was able to setup Intune again and it all popped back on the phone. Before it would have been a hassle to go thru and get rid of all the company stuff.

I would like to see similar management profiles for mobile, and/or home computers. So if an employee is terminated all the company data can be wiped from their laptop or home computer as well.

When people had company provided phones we wiped the whole phone when they were terminated. No big deal since they turned the phones in. Tried to get them to go to MDM when they had users take responsibility for their phones, but the IT Director thought it was too much trouble to set up.

Porsche-poor 05-15-2017 03:31 PM

well there will be no wiping of Dave's phone cause its not on he network or has company email on it.

RKDinOKC 05-15-2017 06:03 PM

After I did the MDM wipe I restored from the backup I made on my computer before the company data wipe. It did not restore the company data. Instead it removed the company data from my backup as well. Thought that was pretty tidy.

There are a few things the MDM enforces as well to make the phone more secure. Like you gotta have a password on your phone and a short time out to go to sleep and require the password to log back in.

As long as I pay for all the costs of my phone I will not be agreeing to anything like that. Buy me a phone for company use and pay for the costs and ok. My phone will stay as my personal phone.

RKDinOKC 05-15-2017 06:59 PM

They pay $55 a month for employees that use their phones for work. They used to provide phones, but decided it was too expensive and gave everyone the option to take over their phone account and they pay $55 a month for it. So you get the phone and then end up paying about $5 a month in taxes for a company phone.

Good Tuesday morning. No more Monday day.

We received a a bid proposal to fly a couple of small projects. We will be happy as a fat kid with cake to do em. They evidently have a Word file from the 1980s that they change the location for the project and leave everything else the same. We balked when the contract says they want the film annotated, and contact sheets printed and a Mylar overlay of the topographic lines. WFT? We there will be no film to annotate or make contacts. We are going to discuss what they really want. No one is going to use the contacts and put them on the table and view them in 3D manually. It would be like demanding a VHS video tape or 8 inch floppies for the data.

It's morning and it's not Monday. So...Good Morning.

Jeff, are you experimenting with some sort of 100% Vegan Nipple Lube?
Is Ody Lotion Australian slang for Nipple Lube?

Porsche-poor 05-16-2017 07:19 AM

I want to know how many vegans it takes to make a tube? Are they cold pressed or melted down?

Cold pressed, melting them down would release carbon into the atmosphere and that would be horrible and unprecedented...

RKDinOKC 05-16-2017 04:34 PM

The label does say 100% Carbon Neutral. Seems like Carbon might be a bit scratchy for Nipple Lube.

GH85Carrera 05-16-2017 08:07 PM

Stijn!!

Graphite is pure carbon and used as lube for lots of things.

Elky City had a tornado. Out close to Sid's parents place. I think they are far enough away from Elk City to be fine.

Sad news is at least one death. Several houses are destroyed.

HHI944 05-16-2017 08:55 PM

We had a tornado here not long ago. No deaths or serious injury, but it tore through a car lot and leveled an advance auto parts store.

HHI944 05-16-2017 08:56 PM

Some poor guy was in his truck when the tornado decided to give him the roller coaster ride of a lifetime, but he was pretty much OK.
