My annual physical is in July. Now that I have passed birthday #50 they want some pictures of my innards. Yeah, fun times David.
Other than Dallas/Ft Worth out Garmin has been pretty good.

Yea, and after age 60 the docs like to do a little finger work in a very uncomfortable place. Just make sure he does not have both hands on your shoulder!

I'm back and fed. Three small vials removed for testing.

A few years ago the do said "step up and lean over if you don't mind".
I asked "What if I do mind". He just laughed and has never stated it that way since.

When they use the camera ask the doc "If there is a spark, will I explode?"
He laughed and said no they use inert gas. I ask if inert meant my farts were going to stink really bad or not. He laughed again and said he didn't know. Also asked if I could have a copy of the video so I could prove I wasn't full of what "They" claimed I was. Unless, of course, I was. He said the file was too big to give me a copy.

Welp, the Elky water pump failed on me.
I noticed on the way to lunch that the power steering was notchy, and the AC was pitiful. I looked under the hood after lunch and saw fluid everywhere and the belts were all slick and wet with something. I thought it was power steering fluid. Nope, just antifreeze and dirt from the engine. By the time I got home, the engine was into the red area nearing 250. The pump that died is a "hand me down" from the old 305. It had about 15,000 miles on it before getting transferred to the 350. I have 61,000 on the 350 now. I bought a new water pump last time and it has a lifetime warranty. So it is free! I did buy some "while I am in there" stuff that I think would be stupid to NOT replace. So I will replace the upper and lower hoses, and all three fan belts. The fan belts have to come off to do the water pump so it is zero extra work. The hoses just need one extra clamp loosened and tightened so minimal work. If I can get another 75,000 miles out of all the parts that will be good. So I have a date in the garage tomorrow to fix the lazy ass bosses El Camino.

We had an end link go bad on the sway bar on the truck. $40 in parts and some labor isn't too bad at 190k miles. At the rate we are going, we won't catch up the the Elky.

Welp, I am finishing my coffee after my breakfast. Next stop, the garage. Me against the engineers that designed the water pump removal and replacement procedure. I have all the tools needed and lots of paper towels and gloves.
Recently I was looking in the log book I keep and wondering how much longer the water pump was going to last. I have never had this type of failure. Usually the seal around the shaft starts leaking because of worn bushings. This one just quit pumping.

On the 928 motor most recommend you replace the waterpump when you put on a fresh timing belt, 60K miles. The impeller rotates againts the block. When the waterpump bearing goes the impellers tear up the block. There is an aftermarket waterpump that has plastic impellers to try to fix the problem, but the bearings in that pump don't seem to last as long as the timing belt replacement interval.
The waterpumps on the Cayennes seem to last around 140Kmiles. They start leaking from the shaft bearing. Usually just enough that it gets smelly, but not enough to effect cooling or get a low coolant warning.
