I thought that is what it stood for? Doesn't it rain at least a little most days?

We would not mind if ya sent some rain, but keep that cold crap. It has been a dry November for us. The weather man was pouting the other day, and said the forecast was like working in LA or something. Same weather every day and no thunderstorms in sight, he was bored. I prefer wonderful boring weather.

I like change, as long as it isn't a surprise. Like driving the Cobra to work since it was supposed to be clear skies and we have a deluge. That car is NOT fun in the rain.

One of my friends had a Viper, and he used to come to our autocross regularly. It was a monster on the track with his gummy autocross tires. One day the rains popped up and the day was done. He asked me to follow him to his house to be sure he did not slide off in the ditch. He said he was more terrified of that drive than he was when skimming the tree tops in a helicopter in Nam.
He said he had to just idle and shift to higher gears with no throttle. Any touching of the throttle was tire spin on wet roads. He said he should have called a tow truck and never tried to drive it.

The tires aren't bad and the Eagles were actually a racing rain tire and gripped well in the wet. It is the lack of top and a short windshield that sucks.

I loved my old 914, but I am certainly too old to want a really primitive sports car like it again. I am at a point where the 911 is just what I want, great heater, wonderful air conditioner, decent enough ride for long trips. I can and have done many 900 mile days.
Driving the Macan back from Enid the other day I certainly understand the draw of a true modern car. We were rolling along at 80 MPH, 2,200 RPM with the automatic heat and cooling system set to individual temperatures, the SIRIUS station of my wife's choice was tuned in, with wonderful sound. Pretty much no wind noise at all. And the seats of course are heated or cooled, the steering wheel is heated if needed, the cruise control was set and it keeps that speed going up or down a hill. Just an amazing vehicle. I still prefer my trust El Camino as a daily driver. Just yesterday I had to run down to the welding supply store I use to pick up the repaired regulator for my nitrogen bottle. As I got out of my car another customer approached and walked around the Elky, and complimented it, and told me the typical story of how his uncle used to have El Caminos. It is usually a uncle or cousin or best friend that had one for most of the people that chat about it. I can't go a week without someone noticing it and commenting on it. The Macan is just another vehicle and pretty much blends in. The bad news is I can never go to a strip bar, or have an affair while driving the El Camino. On a regular basis one of my friends will mention they saw me in some part of town and knew it was me with such an unique vehicle. The good news is strip bars and affairs are as appealing as setting my hair on fire.

The kids would kill me if I got rid of that car. It is brutal when you stand on the gas. Well, for some people anyway. I guess I have gotten used to it.
I once took a friend for a ride and we entered I8 on a right turn to the on ramp at 30mph and I had to slam on the brakes to keep from rear ending the cars on the interstate at the end of the ramp. He wont ride in the car again. On the other side of the coin, I have had more ladies ask for a ride than I have had guys. I keep a pony tail holder on the shifter because the wind whips around the cockpit something fierce and long hair gets really, really tangled. Most ladies are like "Do it again!". My wife asked if she could drive it before we were even dating. Of course I let her.

Is that an obscure reference lost on a younger generation? Elco would be the masculine version and actually contain letters from El Camino. A truck name should be masculine right? Or is that not how your truck identifies? ![]() I had an 86 Elco and surprisingly it was a very stable car at 65mph in a rain storm. Compared to the 5.0 Mustang that was not safe in the rain. And now you humble brag about having hair to burn too? lol My dually Patty and her trailer Susan. lol

I have never named my cars, and I never have figured out if they are feminine or masculine. I don't refer to either of them as "she" as many cars owners do.
Elky is a term several of the guys used to refer to their El Caminos when we had a club. That club kinda dissolved when a few of the main members died or had to sell the cars due to divorce or their wife's health reasons. I never really thought about the names Elky or Elco. I have my blood, sweat and tears DNA all over and under the Elky. There are few if any places I have not have had access to. They are both more like buddies than girlfriends, but my wife has accused me of spending more time in the garage than with her at times. I tell her if could be way worse and even more expensive if I was into boats of golf. She just has to open the door to the garage and there I am.

The Durango is Mae since that is on the plates. The Rogue is Ramen (Nissin noodles). Steve is our bright blue Avenger so we named our scarlet colored minivan Wanda. The Cobra has been called many names, some not very polite. The bikes don't have names, but I should name my wife's Rambo since it is identical to the one in the movie.

She gets a stipend to pay for our internet connection. At lest she no longer has a 50 minute commute. Mine is about 20 minutes and hers was only a few miles longer, but she hit the traffic heavy section of town. We live about 15 minutes from town.

The IRS eliminated the deduction for home offices. I can't deduct anything I do at home for work.
I don't even get paid vacations at all, but the boss does let my take his wife on long road trips in his 911 and he buys the beer.

You need to rent an office just to write it off.
