He too said he was going nuts sitting around. He tried golf, and decided it was just a really stupid and expensive game. As a bus driver he gets to use his skills as a cop on kids and keep them in line.

Today we go to the Ausable Chasm And take a walking tour. It is raining HARD right now, but radar makes it look like it should be over before we get there.

It rained on us today. We were soaked on our trail hike around the Ausable Chasm.

Fantastic scenery, but a tough two mile hike with two swinging bridges.

That is the bridge at the top of the photo.

We were soaked even with umbrellas and rain coats. My shoes were soaked. All in all it was a fun, but wet day.

Today we did the revolution rail. It is pedaling 3.7 miles to a stop. The crew rotates the “car” while we look at the Hudson River. Then we pedal back.

Good luck with the search for your next Porsche. Tomorrow will be another 9 hours or so. Last day will be 5 hours and home!

decided it has to be a 987.2
981 ain't curvy enough. and is way more "digital" than the 987 is. Which is not as good for the DIY mechanic that I am.

Blue on Blue
rare, since most blues tend to be tan inside, which is no good due to windshield glare.

I'de rather have black interior, but, I could most definately live with the blue interior.
Only drawback : blue itnerior is very rare if any spare part is needed... I think only brown is rarer.

Its a PDK, not a manual.. but , my left knee from time to time is acting up and I'm sure it won't improve as I move closer to 60.
my early 911 bud PeterFrans in NL told me he has a 981 PDK and he loves it. Not homesick for manual when he drives it..
PDK is probably the sensible thing to do, but I've yet to experience it in person.. That is defo on top of my TODO list..

The PDK is a mind reader. It just somehow knows what gear you want. Especially on a track day.

I did the two day long Porsche Driving experience at Barber Motorsports. We mostly drove a new 911 GTS, but we had one session in a 911 Turbo S, and a Cayman GTS as well as the stupidly named Tycan Turbo. All were a blast. The PDK in sport plus mode downshifts as you come into a corner, and it is just astonishing.

I was hitting 130 in the 911 GTS on the straights, nail the brakes hard, and feel the traction control help me get around the corners. Super fun.

The on Saturday I got to drive the same track in my antique all manual analog 911. I was hitting 90 on the straights, braking way further back with no ABS to help. In the end, my car was more fun as it was 100% me driving with no computer helping out. Slow but fun!

I have had my 911 on ten different tracks.

Nice, I was on 3 with the previous Cayman , had similar outline on the back window
Spa
Nurburgring
Le Mans(Small track Bugatti)

The problem is, there is hardly anything on the market, except for Black,White,Silver,Grey, Arrest me Red and Yellow

There are 2 Deep Blues, 1 in Germany , 1 in France
2 Macademia Brown, Germany , 1 to high price, 1 tan interior, which is no go, glare
1 Nordic Gold, but its an S and that makes it unaffordable in taxes (2K+ a year)
No Ruby Red anywhere.
all are PDK

No Manuals except for black or white or greys

So either I compromise and get a black one (No way I do white/bright red or yellow)
or I compromise on PDK..

Or I play the waiting game

It took me over a year to find my 911.

Geezer voice: Way back in 1995 before the internet existed, we had to use a thing called a newspaper. Yep they printed the news on paper, and delivered it to your house every day! I gave up on local listing and went to the grocery store and bought a newspaper from Tulsa, a city 100 miles away. I found my perfect car there, and whipped out my checkbook and bought it on the spot. No PPI, no stack of receipts. I got lucky and it has been the best toy I ever bought.

End geezer voice.

I don't generally do things in years.
I started looking for a house on 1st of Januari 2009
By the end of the Week I had signed purchase and mortage paperworks

Still in that house

Its amazig how decision making is simplified when theres no womens to complicamate things.

I saw this in the ad

10x5 meter garage with a back entrance, uncommon around here.

and called my uncle "You coming with me, to visit and check the house and to hold me back"

When I set my mind on something , I want it fast

the only thing holding me back is the fact that I don't want artic silver again and none of the other other common colors are my liking.
want a manual
and newer than 987.1

and manuals are rare in the 987.2 and later years

I may end up with a black one, my only gripe with black is it needs much cleaning and its a bit common(but so was artic silver on the previous one)

When my wife told me 28 years ago that we needed to get out of the crazy high traffic part of town, I agreed 100%. We started looking at houses, and the very first one we looked at was this one. We then looked at a few dozen more, and none had the pull to me that this place did.

We have a three car oversize garage, with a workshop area on the side. And there is a bathroom in the garage that is heated and cooled by the home HVAC system. I was sold, and I just assumed we would get a kitchen and some bedrooms with the garage. My wife saw the master closet, and she was sold. Open the door to the closet and it looks like a nice size closet, go in several feet and you can turn left for another 12 feet.

We got the mortgage with zero effort, we sold our old paid for house, and dumped in all the money, and then I sold my old bachelor pad house that I had used as a rental but I was done with landlord headaches.

Now I have the garage heated and air conditioned for when I am out there. I have added the scissor lift, that is in a pit.

I have my 911 in the air resting on the mechanical safety stops so no pressure on the cylinders.

A good 997 kept in good condition and not modified in any crazy ways will not depreciate much if at all. Buy a good solid car, and ignore the color.

any 3+ liter engine , 3.4 or 3.6 is taxed through the nose here
The name reg gets cheaper as they get older
but the annual road tax doesn't ,tis CO2 based and engine displacement based

make sure you are sitting down, a 2008 997 is € 3120 USD / year
its indexed so it goes up every year

260 in taxes a month, for a second , hobby car is beyond what I'm willing to pay

So 997's Cayman S's R's GT4's are not an option for me.
The later Cayman S is a bit better because CO2 went down

This is in Euros, x1.14 for dollars

2013 Cayman 2.7 964
2007 cayman 2.7 1069
2009 cayman 2.9 PDK 1163
2009 cayman 2.9 1185
2013 CaymanS 3.4 1845
2009 Cayman S 3.4 1965
2008 997 C2 2800

PDK's are lower due to lower emissions

Just told French Blue with blue interior i'm not interested
he sent me history and half an options list
the history shows its an early series prod, probably a demo car, built early januari 2009 and has had a string of repairs.. not feeling it

Sent word to another one in Germany at a car dealer
Meteor Grey, Manual
low 66000 km
looks very clean
with warranty
Slightly higher budget wise, but willing to go there for the low milage
