Ok, so , lets drop some strange tales of stuff i've been up to.

For one thing.. I am no longer Stijn Vandamme.

I am now, Stijn Vanbeselaere.

Didn't change my firstname to Suzan, no Woke trans weird **** like that.

But, I was born Vanbeselaere to a single mother
Then my mother got hitched to a dude, Vandamme
I was 4 or 5 so never knew I wasn't his kid
Then at my 12 they got divorced, mum springs the news : hes not your dad

whut.

Surprise surprise, kid bcomes beliggerent Teenager

At this point my mother was rid of the guy
But I had his name as he had legally adopted me
I was stuck with the name, of a guy I hadn't seen since my 13 years of age, who was pretty much a part time con man.

FFWD 2024 the law changed bout surnames
And I was able to take back my original family name.

so now you know

Fun fact.. We have a mandatory change to Digital Electricty meters.
They been trying get an appointment, since 2020, basically telling me : We come next week , be home

me ignoring it
then me saying i'm out of country foir 6 months
or "i work for healthcare can't change my work schedule such short notice"

basically I am at the 6th year of giving them the runaround because Digital meter means my solar no longer just ticks off killowatts by reversing the meter ..
Digital means they charge you high tarrif at night, and then pay you low tarrif for your solar.. benefit gone
6 years run around means I have 6 x 3000 kw profit, which proably nets me at least 10 grand vs if I had just taken the meter on day 1

The Name change threw a massive monkey wrench in their plans
Because the consigned letters they sent me are on the old name.. and I couldn't collect those at he post office.

Me changing name broke their enforcement procedure.
People get sued left and right for refusing the meters
I no longer even get the most basic letter, because they can't sue Stijn Vandamme
He no longer exists !

Many years ago in my single days at my bachelor pad house, I noticed one winter my gas bill was a lot lower than the year before. It was the minimum payment due plus a minor amount of gas for having a connection. Then winter his again, and I got a zero gas usage bill. I just somehow kept forgetting to call and complain.

Then one morning at 6:00 AM they were knocking on the door. They said they were here to change the meter, as it is broken. Crap. So they fought with the very old fittings, and put in a shiny new meter and hauled away the old rusted meter. I had to be home so they could light any pilot lights,

Suddenly my gas bill was back to normal. They had no way to bill me for former use, as it was their equipment at fault.

Just scored a 70ies , vintage Redding single stage press for like 60 bucks and shipping out of UK

That'll be real nice when it is cleaned up and I'll be making some fat pills for the Dan Wesson 45.
With some luck the thread on the handle is same as on Dillon or other modern press, and I can get a new sideways roller handle for it.

Been out of reloading for 10 years or so, but its fun to tinker, so guess I'm back in

I love Redding Green, they have quality sheisse

You guys abandoned us long ago, and I stuck around chatting with Porsche Poor (RIP). Glad yer back. So Rick, are you officially retired now?

I recently replace the #8 bearing seal on my 911. Getting all the stuff off, replace a simple seal, and reassemble took me two days. I am really glad I was not working for book rate. Well, I was unpaid totally so book rate might be good. Problem is I would just have to pay myself.

Rick can't fully retire, Idle hands are the devil after all.
If he ain't doing a job, and Beth ain't choring him, he finds things to do himself..

the 8 seal, the crankshaft seal?
Did you have a lift or just did it on the ground ?
With a lift its very doable, but on the ground just slows things down a lot.

I bought a single post lift 5 years ago, I figure for the coming 20 years and comfort to my back
2500 euro write off over 20 years it was money well spend.. it pays for itself in not having to get somebody to work on my cars..

the Single post is doesn't take up much space when its not used.. And it works fine for mid or rear engined cars.. I guess with a 944 it would be slightly more of a hassle if you need anything done to the torque tube, but even that would be doable (lift, loosen torque tube, drop lift, remove torque tube, lift car.. do other work)

My roof ain't high enough to lift to full height, but i just have a rolling thingie to sit on , under the car and its fine.

Unfortunately the bodywork had taken a hit on almost every side, shredded all what was underneight.. and Body work is not my thing, all that plastic and light metal would have cost me too much.. it was salvagable, but I would always have known it was dinged... so had it hauled off to young guy and his bud, one mechanic other body work guy

I have a scissors lift in a pit in my garage. I can get the bottom of the car 48 inches high. It was not horrible to do, but I am a slow mechanic.

I am retired yes but I had to take a part time job just to keep doing something so I drive a school bus. Pay sucks, schedule is great and off all summer with pay.
