Holey moley it's the Mother of all Mondays. It's income tax due today Monday. Hope everyone got all their forms and if need be payment satisfactorily submitted according to the IRS. If so, Good Morning, it not Get to Work!
Because I had to divy up some cash this year I waited until last week to submit mine so I could make interest on the monies. Usually I get back enought from the state to pay Federal. When the company paid bonuses this year they withheld a flat rate on those bonuses instead of going by our W4 tax schedules and did not withhold enough. Had to pay a some to both. Sucks to be single with no dependents, we get taxed more than anyone else. Grilled some Salmon last Wednesday. While the grill was warming up and getting it's cherry wood smoke on, doused the fllet with lemon juice and liberally covered it with ground black pepper. It was delicious. Problem was it kicked off some painful indigestion/relux. Doc said to take Nexium for it. Took until late yesterday for the Nexiym start working. Besides the gut hurting it made my blood sugar go wacky. Hate it when that happens.

I filed my personal income taxes back in February. Of course now I "get" to file estimated taxes every quarter since the company is making money.
We are going up to Tulsa today to pick up a Cessna 172 for a one year lease. For a lot of long and complex issues I will not get into we decided to lease it for a year and we do have the option to renew the lease in 12 months or walk away from it. No option to buy, the company said they never sell them and they have a waiting list of people wanting to lease them. We had to wait a month to get this one. It was ready Friday but the winds were stupid and a direct cross wind. My partner will go and bring the pilot we used for year at the last place of employment. He owns two airplanes and is very knowledgeable about Cessnas. He will be there to help inspect, and read the log book.

Good luck on the wings. Hope you do as well as I did leasing the cars I've leased.
On the cars I leased they had an annual mileage the lease was based on. If you went over they charged so much per mile. Do they do with with hours on a plane? BMW had the best lease deal. You get a low mileage lease, then a 1 year before the lease was up you could pay for the miles overage you expected to have at the end of the lease. It was way cheaper than going with the higher mileage lease in the first place. It was like they wanted to lease cars or something. It was also cheaper to run the tires bald at the end of the lease and let BMW charge you for replacing them. It was less than 1/4 the cost of replacing the tires yourself.

The lease has a 40 hour per month built in price. If we fly it more than 40 hours per month, we pay a flat rate for those hours. That is all based on the Hobbs meter which measures engine run time.
We pay for all maintenance costs except for a engine rebuild at TBO.

I know several years ago when we had a foundry in Blackwell OK they looked at flying the 4 guys up and back daily. It's 90 miles straight up I-35. Two of the guys were pilots. They ended up driving it every day. They left OKC at 5am and got back at 6pm.
One of the guys lived in McAlester and drove 125miles each way to work in OKC. Then went to Blackwell as well. I made the trip for a week to get all the measurements to do drawings of the foundry. Then had to go about once a month to do computer management. But just left at the regular work time and came home after lunch when i got the work done.

Since the wooden playset had blown over last year we used the small metal fence posts to keep it in place. It is now listing to one side. Time to get some more boards to brace it better. I hate wind. We have people that failed the phishing test so it puts them in a group automatically for remedial training. They then blow that off and I send a stern note to let them know it is mandatory and they say they are working on it even though the training window has now closed. I informed their supervisors so they can take care of it, otherwise some people are going to lose security privileges. Oh, happy Monday all y'all.

We've had KnowBe4 for over 2 years and yet to have an anyone except me go thru the training. I just went thru it to make sure it works .They insisted on putting the training module into our LMS system and 90% or the training modules have problems that require you to run different browsers for different modules or they won't work. Have had to use Edge, Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox. No one browser runs them all.
We've got an ALICE training thing (what to do if a gunman starts shooting up the place.) Everyone has to go thru and the stupid training and get a score of at least 80%. The module only runs under Firefox. All other web browsers get errors and won't let you finish the training. It it most likely a configuration problem on our setup in our LMS system, but they won't let anyone from IT even try to fix it. The chick in charge of training is scared to death we will mess it up. If it doesn't let you complete the module, it is already messed up!

Phew, I guess it is Monday for sure.
The mean old boss made me edge, and mow the yard today and no extra pay! I did get to use the new Honda mower for the first time. It really does start on the first pull if you put gas in it. It comes with a bottle of oil to put in, but they don't supply any gasoline. It runs if you put gas from your own supply in it. Then that jerk boss's wife made me put together the concrete fountain in the front garden area. It weighs at least 900 pounds. (My mom told me a millions time to not exaggerate) so I lifted it up into position and we filled the basin and got the pump installed. Then I had to cut down some limbs off the Sequoya tree in the front that were several hundred feet in the air and several feet in diameter. Using my magic, I managed to stuff them all in the trash can. Well OK, they were limbs from the Bradford pear tree that kept whacking me in the head when I mowed. But the limbs were really high!

We have the same issue with our LMS.
Here it is mandatory to go through training if you click on the test. We are about 2.8% click through. We also do in person training that is mandatory, both in NEO and semi-annually that I get to do. It is amazing how many don't know basic common sense when it comes to email or computers in general.

If I were to mow today I would have to use another piece of equipment first. One that has a auger to pull material into a chute to be expelled at a distance. Sometimes mice go out the chute as well. I don't think they like it.
I suppose I should go get the rake from dad and rake the yard once I can see the grass again. Better yet, have the kids do it!

We have a 25% click thru and STILL no training?
No wonder we keep getting Malware. And I don't care if you use an anti-spam service that claims they remove malware links from emails, they still can't get them all. Ran KnowBe4's new Mailserver Security Assesment to check out our new anti-spam service. We now not only receive all sorts of Microsoft Documents, word, excel, powerpoint, but also all of them with embedded Macros, Java, etc. Yikes. Now you can send us a word file that says it's a receipt that has an embedded script that opens an obfuscated link to malware. Comes right on thru.

I mowed today. It’s a 5 minute task with my reel mower. Of course, if I had a real yard...

Good Morning!
For those still keeping tack today is Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Local weather will be warm, 65°F this morning with an expected high of 88°F. It is still Oklahoma so the wind will be around 20mph, and it is trash collection day in my neighborhood. So watch for flying trash bins, Egads.

Alien Bob got hearing aides from the VA yesterday. He has been using not hearing as an excuse to not work for about 10 years. Will be interesting to watch what happens.

Happy tax filing day everyone. Evidently Patriots Day delayed the filing one day. ????
Whatever, I did my 2017 taxes months ago. The guy that bought the very first 944 in Oklahoma had a landscaping business. His front yard was covered in terraces, with bushes, and flower beds covering the entire front yard. The back yard was covered in a giant Koi pond, a pool, and more terraces. He kept a patch of Bermuda grass the exact size of his 21 inch mower. All he had to do was start it, and wait for it to get to full speed, and then shut it off. He did not have to move it. He was done mowing the yard. He did that because he sold the landscaping business and got into the oil and gas business. He would go to work and the co-workers would talk about mowing their yards. He could chime in as having mowed his yard.
