Interesting...literally...the Govment didn't take my tax payment out of my account until today even though I filed last week. Not that a couple days of interest on the small amount I owed was very much.

I filed a bit over a month ago and have received small federal & state refunds. I did a good job with the withholding this past year.

It looks like I’ll spend another day tinkering on cars.

Ran KnowBe4's new Mailserver Security Assesment to check out our new anti-spam service. We now not only receive all sorts of Microsoft Documents, word, excel, powerpoint, but also all of them with embedded Macros, Java, etc. Yikes. Now you can send us a word file that says it's a receipt that has an embedded script that opens an obfuscated link to malware. Comes right on thru.
I had to white-list KnowBe4 so the tests could get through.

Oh, and we could get up to 8" of crystalline precipitation depending on what the temperatures drop to. Crap. The fruit trees were already budding.

Whitelisted KnowBe4 so tests didn't hit user's Junk Email folder.

Well happy Tax deadline again!

Only the IRS and or the VA, FBI, FAA or several other government bureaus could be so incompetent to not have the software to keep up with the mandated filing deadline. Like the Obamacare web page crashing and that took months to sort out after spending millions.

The IRS is still using some software from the days John F. Kennedy was in office!

The VA has patients die before the many long months long wait to see a doctor and the employees get a bonus for doing a good job. The FBI gets reports a kid in Florida is wacko and does nothing to stop a mass shooting. If you saw the 60 minutes report on the Alegant airlines and the FAA looks like incompetent idiots.

So we all send our tax money to the IRS to be wasted. Sorry for the rant. I feel better.

Oh well, happy hump day!

Constantly amazes (or frustrates depending on how involved I am) how incompetent managers make decisions with no regard or consideration for the experienced information they have available.

Have decided the best action on my part is to keep my head down, just do what I am told to do, make no suggestions, and only very generally answer any questions being very careful not to go against inane solution management is pushing.

28 years experience running mail servers and anit-spam/anti-virus have zero value.

We had a lunch and learn a few weeks ago. It was hosted by our "employee training coach" and it was on email etiquette. She announced the lunch and learn shortly after sending around 200 individual meeting invites for NEO which is a recurring meeting so it would have been simple to send it out that way. I said no thanks to the meeting. I also did not accept all the meeting invites for NEO. I figured it will be on the calendar as long as I don't decline it.

Some days you have to just shake your head.

Richard, some times the best way to deal with lack of competence is to not to.

The new kids always know better. My direct boss quit and we had a client he brought back in after the former boss ticked them off to the point they won't work with him at all take all their work and go. Well the new (jerk and that's polite) says he can talk them out of it. He got told to drop dead by the client. We all laughed at him.

Yea, my boos is a real jerk. He thinks he is smart but he keeps making real bonehead mistakes and always blames it on me. The jerk is a cheapskate as well. He is funny however. I tell him looks aren't everything and at least he is funny looking.

Oh no.

Just got an email from the "IRS" (in my spam quarantine) that said they are going to seize my state tax return because I have taxes due. What if I didn't get a state tax return?

As far as I know the IRS only notifies by mail, not email or phone. Besides, why would they use an email address like irs@birchconnect.com. Wouldn't it look more official from collections@irs.gov? Don't they want me to click on the links in the email?

Yea, the IRS makes it easy. A real scary envelope shows up. If you ignore that long enough, they send agents with guns. They don’t bother with email or phone calls.

I received a bs call from some scammer claiming I had to buy a gift card at Walgreens to pay them. I kept laughing at him and he said he is sending the SWAT team now. I told him send a big team, I will make the Branch Dividens look like a cake walk. I guess I scared him off because they never showed up.

He probably didn't understand the Branch Davidian reference.

Thought about calling the number in the email and messing with them, but who knows what lists that would put my phone number on. Sometimes would be cool if still had some of the phone call hacks from back in day just to give some of them phone scammers some of their own medicine.

Be best one I pulled by far was on a friend. We were connecting our computers back and forth with modems working on the coding to write modem software for his computer. It was a Timex Sinclair 1000.

During one such call I disconnected my number and re-connected in with an anonymous service number. Then I started sending terminal commands to reconnect with the terminal on his computer and locked out the keyboard so he couldn't type or even turn his computer off. Then I sent a file that filled his screen with the following text over and over...

ATTENTION ATTENTION **** THIS DATA CONNECTION WAS INTERRUPTED DUE TO VIOLATION OF FCC STANDARDS. THE NUMBER IS BEING TRACED. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DISCONNECT ***** ...
After a couple of screens I sent...

***** TRACE SUCCESSFUL. NUMBER IS 405 755 2534 YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY THE FCC. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ESTABLISH DATA CONNECTIONS ON THIS LINE. *****

Then I sent the codes to turn off his computer, then his modem.

Waited a couple of minutes then tried to call a couple of times with my modem. His phone answered but not his modem. So I called voice and asked what was going on. He was freaked out and wanted to know if I got a message or anything. I said his computer just hung up and wouldn't reconnect. He said he was going to have to hang up because he was expecting a call from the FCC. Told him if he hung up he couldn't hear me laughing. Then he said "Oh man, you (expletives deleted)" and slammed the phone down.

Would LOVE to do some of that kind of stuff to those phone scammers.

At the time we where both Machinists on night shift were I work. Being on-line meant you had a Compuserve account. He went from that Timex Sinclair to a PC, then a Mac and enjoyed helping co-workers set up their home computers. He moved into the IT department and became the company Help Desk. He passed away about a year after i started working from home.

Yea, it is a beautiful morning. Clear skies, and no wind. I am sure the wind will crank up. I hear it is all those big tall fans out in the western part of Oklahoma. You have seen them, big tall three blade fans. They crank em up to keep the chemtrail chemicals stirred up.

They just call them wind power generators to placate the citizens. Yea, that's the ticket!

Guy in the 928 group started and has been doing a detailing business the last few years. He has been doing paint restoration etc and cars he's done placing well in car shows.

Until recenty he used all Griots stuff. Yesterday he posted a video on Facebook of a new ceramic polymer coating he has started using called Flight Shield. Very glossy. In the video they used a wire brush and scratched up a door. Then got out a heat gun and all the scratches just melted away and you could not tell it had ever been scratched. Looked cool. The coating claims it lasts 6 years.

Called my detail guy and he is checking into it.

He did my Cayenne S with some kind of stuff.
Took this pic to sell it after doing nothing for 2 years but running it thru a car wash...

Remember that expensive fancy carnuba wax stuff that the sun would bake off the car after a month or so.
