Opps. The dealership sent the wrong turn signal switch. Evidently the one for my car the only made two years and they sent an earlier one.

Found out it is $795!! Has the turn signals switches, wiper controllers, Cruise control, and the controls for the dash computer display. Should have known, got the same assembly for my 2001 BoxsterS when it wss new because adding the switch was all I had to do to add the dash computer display on the Boxster.

Called the Dallas 928 parts guy and he is getting the correct new one for $575. And he includes all the extra washers and seals to make it all new.

The turn signal switch in my El Camino is cheap I know. Heck I have a spare one already. One side would not cancel and to get it out, pop off the steering which takes a special puller. Then I have to have a real mouse trap gizmo to depress the lock plate and get the nut off of it. Then I can get to the turn signal switch. One little spring had broken and all I did was use the spring from the new one on to old one and it was fixed. Then re-assemble. It is several hours of tedious work and a total pain in the butt to do. All to replace a tiny spring. A few years later the spring for the other side broke. Now it does not self cancel on that one side. I know just what to do, I just have not gotten motivated enough to do it. It is pretty easy to cancel the signal by hand. I will get it fixed soon.

To fully replace that switch is a lot more work.

There are 4 bolts that the factory did not torque properly on G body cars steering column. To get to them is a total all day chore. I fixed mine long ago and put them in with red lock-tight. I suspect all the GM G body cars on the road have had them fixed by now. It is real disconcerting to have the entire steering wheel move around like a dead fish. I always wondered how GM avoided a factory recall on it. It is very common in the G body cars.

Already checked the spring, it was good. The little plastic thing the metal spring catches on, gets brittle and breaks after 24 years, go figure.

Probably better than moving around like a live fish.

Today is one of those days when I would like to have either two 27" monitors or one 43" monitor.

Morning. Sorry but it has not started well this morning so can't say Good.

Even though have updates OFF my Virtul PC Win10 Microsoft pushed some sort of security update last night and broke a bunch of stuff, Microsoft Idiots. WHY! Sure, sure, who decided it increases security if your computer can't make secure connections at all! Don't they test their updates?

Luckily was able to uninstall the last update applied, but DAMN why freaking push a security update that breaks secure connectionis?

Apple and Adobe do that too, they all do.

The last big update for Win 10 took several hours to install on my MIL's computer. I don't know why it took so long. It is a reasonable fast machine with 16 gig of RAM.

Last night we had the board meeting for the region at our house. One of the new board members and a long time friend is Bob. He owns the documented oldest Porsche sold new in the USA. It is a 1952 Speedster. Really cool car. Recently a German was driving through Oklahoma in his 356 and he burned a valve. He stopped at Dumont's the same place Richard takes his car. Thy knew he did not have the time to wait while they rebuilt a head, so the called Bob. He has a set of heads ready to go so he took them down there and negotiated a price. He went in his 52 Speedster. The German is a guru on old 356s and his mouth flew open when he saw the car. He kept asking questions and Bob has the factory letter stating it is the oldest and all the documentation. THe German get on the phone talking German and says OK, Hans Peter, when you get out of the meeting call me. Then he calls the head of the Piech family. A little while later the phone rings and he say her you talk to him. Hans Peter Porsche is on the line, and they discuss the car. Hans Peter say he will email him the cardex for the car and that he has a sister car to this one that was built the same week.

Later Bob receives an offer to sell the car from the German for the Porsche family. Bob called the local dealer and asked if he could order a new 911 GT2RS and they said the one they get is already sold. He said if the deal will match his price, and they add in a new GT2RS he will sell. He is a retired doctor and his wife is a successful commercial real estate broker. They don't need the money and he has a dozen cars now.

Kinda a cool story. Bob is a super nice guy and I hope he keeps the car.

Yea, it had been almost 24 hours since she planted something. She was going into DTs and needed a fix. So she bought 2.2 cubic yard of potting soil and 7 plants. I don't know where she will find a place for them.

Sounds like you’re going to be busy, Glen.

I’m going to spend some time in the garage playing grease monkey this morning.

Yea, it looks purdy.

I don't have a buffer, and my right shoulder is just not up to the task of waxing it. It needed a full clay bar treatment and wax. I just paid for it. Way easier.

He always does a really great job.

Remember one time the morning after he did my red 928 I drove it about 10 miles to downtown OKC. It was so shiney and bright red it grabbed your attention for half a mile away. In that 10 miles I got pulled over twice for "driving aggressively and cutting people off." Not only was I NOT speeding or driving aggressively, I had not even changed lanes. Didn't get any tickets but still don't know how I could cut people off without even changing lanes.

I do the clay bar and wax on three of our cars. The Cobra is still matte black and the kids take care of all the chrome and wheels. They don't give a rat's pajamas about the other cars.

Probably a good thing they don't give the rats pajamas. The rats will start feeling entitled.

User turned off the tablet mode on his laptop and got upset because the touch screen quit working.
