We had a bad box elder bug infestation in our Chinaberry or Golden Rain tree.

The picture is about actual size.
There were thousands. And they were very unsettling. When you walked out into the back yard they would run and try to hide. Don't like bugs that are aware of you and run.

Tried spraying bug killer, but was told the only way to get rid of them was to get rid of the tree.

Was driving down a road in the country and happened upon a large black tarantulas crossing the road. Stopped, grabbed a drink cup with a lid, caught it, took it home, then released it next to our garden shed that is right next to the chinaberry tree. The tarantula scampered under the shed.

Amazingly enough within a couple of weeks and for the next two years there were no more boxeldger bugs.

Towards the end of the 2nd boxelder free summer noticed a few bugs. They were coming back.. The tree and shed was on our property line and talking to that next door neighbor he commented that he had killed a huge tarantula in his back yard. Asked him if he had noticed there were't any boxelders around and he did. Told him he had killed my pet spider that was keeping them at bay.

Waited until there got to be a bunch of boxelder bugs again and pointed it out to the spider killing neighbor. Then went and bought a tarantula at a pet store and released it. Letting the neighbor know it about it. He noticed the boxelders disappeared soon after. Did not have a boxelder bug problem for next 5 years then we moved away.

We were driving out to Gloss Mountain State Park several years ago. The Tarantulas were migrating again. There were hundreds of of them on crossing the road. I bet we saw 10,000 of them in a short time.

I finally got a chance to wash the El Camino yesterday. It was some kind of filthy. We have been in a cycle of rain every three days or so. Sometimes two or three days of rain and one clear day. My white car was brown just from the dirty roads and rain.

When I ran the drafting dept the founder of our company often brought me sketches literally on napkins, envelopes, and the backs of scrap paper and totally expected me to make the toleranced production drawings from em. And back then it was pencil and paper, CADD required writing FORTRAN programs, none of this pointy clicky mousy stuff.

In the end, I cheated big time. I took it to a local shop I trust to do the A-Arms and a new alignment.

One of the the factory front end parts that wore out ages ago was the steering arm. The factory unit had no grease zerk, as it was a "lifetime" lube. Yea, lifetime of 60,000 miles. The replacement has been on there ever since and it gets lubed regularly. It is still in prefect shape after 300K miles.

I replaced the OEM rack on the Cobra with a Flaming River quick ratio unit. The old one was worn out and the boots dried out and ripped. Much better feel of the road and I don't have to hand over hand when parking so much.

I just did a quick scan of a napkin I have. It is a reproduction of the one Ferry Porsche used to design the Porsche Crest. The napkin I have is a nice heavy paper napkin, in a Glassine envelope. They were on the table at Porsche Parade at the Concours banquet several years ago. They often hand out neat little "gifts" since we just paid 60 bucks a head for dinner.

Richard should be able to whip out a 356, or maybe even a 911 from that napkin drawing of the Porsche crest. Let me know if you need a little help with the Fortran coding.

I haven't used FORTRAN since I was in college my freshman year in 1986. Don't plan to use it ever again. I have not used a flowchart, I think, ever.

Never did any fortran drawing. Saw the schools computer, and poo pooed it. Was already doing very nice orthographic explosions with pen and ink. In fact, the drawings I did look better than the crap they generate today with Solid Works.

Kinda sad, I found a Mac program that took Solid Works data files and output illustrations that were as good as my own. Nobody except for me could figure out how to use it so it was abandoned. It really was not difficult.

I have a font we used that I made from actual Leroy Lettering so CADD drawings would match pen and ink drawings closer.

No thanks, I can barely make legible scratches right handed.

When I took the drafting class in high school I got docked for not making the correct marks to size the letters on the drawing. All the years helping dad I think I could get them down pretty well. The teacher actually measured my letters and they were spot on for size. Duh.

Since then I don't care to print as nicely.
