Three different times the range rover just stopped and I had to pull over to the side of the road. All three times within 2 minutes it started back up and i got to where I was going. Never did find out why.

Pretty much why I got rid of it. That and the A/C was more like just a fresh air vent.

My daughter drives a lexus 200h something hybrid.
she took it to jiffylube for an oil change and they tried to talk her into a $350 brake job. They said her car would be unsafe to drive if she didn't get the brakes repaired in the next two weeks.

I warned her about the evils of JF and inspected her brakes. The front pads have close to a year left. The rotors had plenty of thickness left.
So I told her it wasn't urgent but I'll fix her brakes for her one of these weekends.

I went online and found incredible deals, on LEXUS parts. I was surprised. I figured anything for a lexus was gonna be cubic dollars.
Two OEM quality rotors, OEM pads, all new clips/hardware, brake cleaner and brake fluid all for $59 with free shipping.
no way.
I've always been mr. skeptical so I was looking for the catch.
I checked out the parts, they look legit.

So why the deal?

Turns out that lexus shares lots and lots of parts with the prius, including the brakes.
The brakes on the prius were unchanged for many years and there are a gozillion of em on the road.
All that makes the brake parts cheap.

Reminds me buying parts for a chebby small block.
I checked youtube to make sure there weren't any tricks or special tools required, it's easy and simple. Don't even have to mess with the wheel bearings as the rotors fit over the hub.
Replacing the front rotors and pad should take all of about 20 minutes if I stop to rest in the middle of it.
too easy and good so far, something has to go wrong.

my guess is that half way thru while resting the correct tool will suddenly vanish.

I think I jinxed myself. Those brakes are too cheep.

On the way home today I'm going to stop and buy some good ceramic brake pads from a known store and supplier. Just so I don't have to worry about her. As much.

Hahaha! Those are reupholstered Miata seats. My ripped up 280Z seats are in the garage.

Sammy, I buy OEM, GM Goodwrench brake pads for my El Camino. The last set was $12. They are up to $14 or so now, dang inflation. The exact same pads my car had on it when brand new. After 367,000 miles I have only replaced the rear drum brakes once, and they are still in good shape right now. And I have never once had an issue with the ABS system, traction control, backup cameras, electric windows, on board navigation system, climate control, heated seats, or lane assist systems.

I had the great fun of going to my MIL's house for tech support of her computer. She turned it on one day, and had no display at all. No BOIS, nothing. It worked one day, not the next. Actually she only turns it on once per week.

I was hoping I could just add a video card, and get a display. So I hauled it home. After a few hours of time with on line tech support and reading the manual, it is official, dead motherboard. Crap.

I built the system 5 years ago. The MB then was just $187.99. I did not expect to see them available still. They no longer make that model, but some people evidently bough the surplus, or had them somehow. Now the price is $1,800 to $3,700 for the same one. I guess their storage facility is in downtown NYC or maybe Tokyo. Ain't no way I will pay that.

So the search for a compatible MB is on. I just want to swap the MB out, and keep the same CPU, hard drives and the rest of the stuff. I have two hard drives that are mirrored, using the built in Intel RAID controller.

This is gonna be fun!

So if any of you have a extra ASUS Z97 Pro series motherboard on the shelf, let me know I will pay $$190 for it.

Costed $600 to get the motherboard replaced on my 2015 mac laptop, including labor, Work replaced it with a new Dell with 2 27" screens. Somehow I don't think they got it for $600 or less. But hey, it only takes me twice as long to do the same work on it as it did the mac.

arrrghhh I hate this new computer. No matter what I do it won't stay logged into PP. Even after checking the remember me box after a while it drops off.

The new motherboard I ordered was $105.

It is for my MIL. She only does Quicken, and Facebook, and the occasional letter.

The only other bad motherboard I have even come across since 1982 was a brand new Dell workstation in about 1996. It would run the fans at FULL BLAST and I thought the computer was going to start hovering with the fan speed it was blasting out. Dell came to our office, and replaced the MB for free.

It is just weird that a working system, just died while sitting in on the tile floor, while turned off. It was not moved, and who knows why it died. It will start up to the point of checking the IDE systems, and comes up with a A20 error on the LED right on the motherboard.

There are no IDE cards plugged in at all. It uses the onboard Video, network and USB mouse and keyboard connections.

Isn;t there and accounts prefs that you can set logins and passwords including for web sites? Not sure where it is, but know I've seen and edited it.

The only app that won't keep the settings going is Outlook, and then only for one account that uses the same login for two different accounts (one is shared).


The thing I don't like is the company has default settings that puts my computer to sleep after 2 minutes. It is silly because I was able to turn off having to log back in from sleep. Can understand if my office was at the company IF it made me log back in to keep people from getting on with my login. But just going to sleep without the login is silly,

I just ordered factory Lexus brake pads. $43. So even with two sets of pads i still got a good deal with the rotors.
And i don't have to worry about something going wrong with those other pads.

I disconnected the coil and cranked over the engine. Discovered a fuel leak at my fuel rail. Oops! Got that sorted and reconnected the coil. The engine fired right up. But now it seems to be running lean and dies without my intervention with the throttle. And my wife’s help with the clutch bleeding will need to be tried again. Oh well...not bad for a car that’s been sitting more than 15 months.

My 45 year old rototiller started then died like that. Getting the carb rebiult on the old 8hp Briggs by a Briggs shop. The float gots a hole in it and I can't find no parts. They say they can. It's been with them 2 weeks now.
