There are some cool videos from guys that go out into the desert to launch their rockets. They get the FAA to make a temporary flight restriction for the area for the day, and launch some amazing machines. Sill expensive hobby, but it looks cool.

The federal government (the FAA) pretty much control the airspace from a 400 feet up to space over the USA.

830 MPH and 7,000 feet is cool. But $500 estimated cost is burning through money fast. Pun intended.

They talked more about the special licenses to handle the compounds/gasses/liquids for fuel.
And said something about different times for different altitudes and how it was also based on wind for expected drift and recovery,

I played with small model rockets growing up so pretty much got chasing that stuff out of my system.

I don't remember the price, but it is pretty high just to pay for the 50 cal ammo.

Anyone with proper ID and the money can walk in, rent just about any gun, and blast away. They have a lot of full auto guns but they have all kinds of standard weapons. It is great to rent one, run some bullets through and see if you like it before you buy one like it.

And I don't use euphemisms like spoons or spoon food, just the real words.

Was having dreams that someone was breaking into my house. I was asleep and could hear them but couldn't wake up or even move. Would wake all sweaty. Bought a couple of hand guns and spent some money on ammo and gun range time. Then dreamed was waiting on the roof with my hand gun and chased break in thugs off. Last dream I had was hiding and waiting for the devil himself to come by so could take him out. He never came by. Sold the handguns to upgrade computers and get into r/c planes and haven't had any similar dreams since.

Wish I hadn't sold the Mountain Eagle. It was an accurate little light weight mostly plastic .22 long rifle semi-auto pistol. Great for plinking and small game.
Guess the new lightweight Ruger 22/45 looks pretty good.

Wee are getting into summer soon. High 80s today and 90s tomorrow. I will have to go test drive the 911 and go through that one curve nearby, and maybe blast up the turnpike for a little while.

Guy selling the 928 told me he was offered $75K yesterday. He was pretty excited, he felt like he could easily get $90K it was valued by Hagerty because of the great condition and unique color combo. It is getting a paint restoration detail this weekend. Funny, what they call a paint restoration detail today I called cleaning and waxing a car when I was young. Charged $20 in 1975, they charge $500 today. It only took me 2 hours, they are spending 3 days.

My Dad and next door neighbor started a detailing business. After a couple of summers I inherited the business from them. Dad would pickup the cars and take them through a touchless car wash, then drop them off from me to clean and wax. We lived next to an expensive neighborhood and I got a reputation. Did all kinds of cars including sports cars and even a couple of boats. The paint back then would oxidize and I had a cleaner wax that would remove the oxidation. Used an orbital buffer with an 9 inch pad that worked better than anything sold today. Removed bugs and tar with plain old kerosine, but had to wash it off well before waxing or the kerosine would oxidize the paint. Also did the interiors including shampooing the carpets and treating the vinyl and leather. Cleaned the tires too and they typically had white walls, didn't use any of that greasy protectant either. And there was gobs of chrome that i used the same polish as on the glass. Even had some special stuff I used on vinyl tops. Quit when the shaft on the polisher broke and we couldn't fix it or find another one that worked nearly as well. They were all too fast and too light weight.

It will be interesting to see the 928, most waxes/coatings make it so the metallic doesn't realy shine through. When I used Mother's California Gold the metallic would really let the violet metallic shine thru the blue. Other stuff made it shiney but not that metallic shine. The Mother's only lasted a month though. Last I put on it was Zaino Brothers because it lasted the longest despite toning down the metallic a bit. He claims the detailer knows his stuff and was recommended by his daughter the local Porsche dealer's service tech. So will be interesting.

Dang picky clients. That designer knew better than the client!

We get project often that the instructions we received in the bid proposal and what we did to follow that proposal is not what the end user really wanted. We sometimes have what they wanted, even though it is not what they ordered. It is like going to restaurant and ordering spaghetti and getting mad when they bring don't bring out lasagna.

Our favorite is they send us a boundary specification, we meet that and then they they ask is we have 1/2 mile more in some direction.

We just tell them if they want that area, here is the cost for a new flight. We do fly an extra bit on every flight from the overlap, but it is usually 1/4 mile or so extra.

It is sort of like hiring someone to photograph your house and then asking if the shot the house across the street and next door as well.

My bro thinks I need to redo my whole master bath and add a bidet toilet and not just the seat part.
My last golden de-tiled the bottom of the master bath shower. Don't know why she thought all the tile needed to be removed?

In my case the client handed over very specific CAD standards to follow and the designer didn't.

That would be an enormous super gigantic file. We do a lot of 3 cm flying, and it makes for really big files. I guess if 30 mm pixels will work that doable. We flew my house and property at silly high resolution and used about double the number of ground control points just to play with our drone. I have a 3D model of my house and you can see every brick and crack in the concrete sidewalks and driveway.

If you have a drone, just fly a mapping pattern, 70% sidelap and 80% forward overlap. So it is just back and forth over the property. I can process the images no sweat and just let you download the final file. Depending on how much area your property is it will be a big ol file.

There are cheap apps that will fly the pattern automatically. Just launch and let it fly.

David, we have that issue with a remodel here at work. We specify we want this for our wiring and IT stuff and the design comes back different. "Well, we thought this would work better space wise".

Why would you put the punch down panels and switches under a bare condensation pipe that will drip water, no, fix it.

We have no drones. We do have a Corsair and B-17 and I have a Hot Wheels camera car!
